Weatherstrip repair attempt
Driver side corner has been torn since I bought it last November. They updated the design in ‘16+ to make the “nub” solid. Car doesn’t leak so don’t want to replace if I can avoid it. We’ll see how it holds up as I take the top in/out a lot. Car is a 2014 with 54K miles (I’ve put 11K on it).
Step 1 - Clean with isopropyl alcohol
Step 2 - Super glue
Step 3 - Black silicone (not RTV)

My 2015 with those weak corners was replaced under warranty in about 2016 and I noticed right away the newer style had the beefed up solid corners. I then went and asked to see the old removed weather strip. I noticed that there appear to be two screws holding it in place on the horizontal portion of the halo roof in addition to a channel that is friction fit. I believe the left and right vertical portions are also channel or friction fit. This is a common problem with the original design in the early model C7's.To the best of my knowledge no sealant or glue is used.
I now have a 2018 with the newer design halo weatherstrip and like you I have the roof off and on all the time. If I were going to have to replace mine I would go to the parts manager or service manager and show the problem, explain there is a redesign for that issue and ask them what they could do on price for me. If that part was OK I would look at the new part when it comes in to see if it looks like an easy fix. Probably for the aprox one hour it would take the shop to replace I would go get a coffee while they did it. No interior pieces /roof trim/etc need to be removed to change out the weatherstripping.
My 2018, built June 2017, shows no problems with the new designed solid corners. I had the roof on and off all summer of 2017 and all last winter for the six month we were in Florida and this summer. I just keep the weatherstrip lubricated , especially the corners with dialectic grease that you can buy from your dealer....it is actually recommended in the manual.
Good luck and please post how it all turns out one way or the other

Back in 2016 when I had mine replaced there were several forum members posting pictures of the torn corners on there cars. I posted pictures of the new design when mine was replaced and it worked really well on my 2015 and I have the newer style on my 2018 , no issues, top on and off all the time.

I have a good relationship with my local parts folks so cost isn't the issue. If there's no glue I'll just replace if my repair fails. Years ago I did a custom C5 Z06 targa and so could never get the a-pillars to seal right. So I don't want to Touch if it's not broke. But if it's just screws and channels that's hard to mess up.
I use Shin-Etsu Honda grease to keep it lubed up. It's just fancy silicone grease.

Can you take a close up and pulled back shot of yours so I can show my dealer? My dealer does not do Vettes in high volume and does not always have them on the lot, so I may not have the opportunity to show them what the revised weather stripping looks like in person.

My 2015 C7 had the same style weatherstripping on the roof Halo as what your repair picture shows. Very early on even with my wife helping put the roof back on it was very hard to not have the back corners of the Targa top not pinch in the area where yours is torn. When mine was replaced in 2016 I noticed the hollow area on yours now was a solid area and it never pinched or split like yours did. The pix I posted are from my 2018 and it has exactly the same style weatherstripping as the replacement one on my 2015. In the last 14 months of my top being on and off the car frequently there has been no pinching and no damage.
