When will the Waze app work with Apple Car Play?
I have a 2016 and heard that the Waze app on my iPhone will soon work with Apple Car Play. Does anyone know when that will come about? Or did I get that wrong?

In order for it to work under iOS 12, Waze will have to update their app as well. Same is true for Google Maps. Both have to release an update that supports CarPlay.

When I contacted Waze tech support they said they have no immediate plans to do.

I was wondering the same thing since the commercial I believe was for Lincoln. Was hoping the it was an Apple CarPlay update and not something specific they did to their Nav system. Sounds like it may be something specific to their Infotainment though based on Foosh's findings

I saw that Lincoln ad too, but I don't think their system is based upon CarPlay.
When I first contacted Waze, they blamed it on Apple, saying Apple wouldn't support it. When I responded back saying Apple was making it compatible with IOS 12, that's when they said they have no immediate plans to release a version that is integrated with IOS 12/CarPlay.

The Waze forum says it won’t be immediately available on Sept release either. Someone speculated there won’t be a beta test until iOS is out of beta.

I believe Waze for CarPlay is currently going thru a closed Beta.....at least that is what I've read on Reddit.
I've been running iOS 12 Beta for several months but as others have said the app itself needs updating. Let's hope they both do it sooner rather than later.

Real Bummer. Was hoping Waze was going to be a day and date launch with IOS 12. So annoying switching in and out of this in my car. I don't get how they dropped the ball on this....

I use Apple Maps for nav and Waze for LEO’s, so it runs in the background (audio) anyway. Waze is usually behind Apple Maps for nav commands anyway. We’ll see if it improves with IOS 12.
