Default My driverside door now rubs against the fender when I open/close the door

2019 C7 Stingray vert. The door just started to exhibit a loud rasping sound when I open or close it. Apparently, the door is set too close to the front fender. Is anyone else having this issue?

NO. Go get it adjusted at the dealer before paint damage happens.

For sure. But was curious to know if I'm the only one with this issue.
With all the rain we've had here the past several days, if it were made of wood, I could understand that it might swell and close an already tight gap, but it's plastic for cryin' out loud. Could it be that hydroscopic?? Car has under ~500 miles on it.

I would have them check the passenger door while tech is at it.

Absolutely. Just got in touch with the service mgr at my dealer. Appt scheduled for a week from Tuesday to get all-season tires mounted. They will check out the fitment between the door and the fender.

They are called "mass produced" products for a reason. Price and compare hand-built.

EVERY part and installation is not double or triple checked at each step of manufacture or assembly. That's one reason they come with warranties.

Get it fixed. Then, ENJOY!!!

And hand built usually ends up with less quality since there are more chances for error. Quality is about eliminating chances of error.

im having same issue with my passenger side. I did a complete wide body conversion. No issues for the past seven months. Problem happened two weeks ago after i took off the side skirt then reattached it. Im pushing the fender with the side skirt in a way that it is not supposed to. Hopefully ill get to it soon.

Well, you don't "inspect in" quality. There's no question that double and triple inspecting things costs money (911 owners know all about that , but it really doesn't improve the quality of the build. Engineering, reduced tolerance stack up and process controls generate quality. I would say that by and large my C7 exhibits excellent quality and I got it for a relatively cheap price. Mass production isn't what we might remember it being when we were kids - thankfully we've come a long way.
And for the items that need it, thankfully there is warranty coverage

It may be that someone hit your front end while you were parked enough to move back the fender.
In any case, the dealer should be able to diagnose and repair easily.

Good luck with your service appointment. Hope the dealer gets things adjusted properly.

Had same issue on passenger side! Make adjustment on the fender, not the door as you have to worry about door, window alignment issues if you move the door.
