Default MGW Flat stick - Shift *****?

Question for all those that have MGW flat stick installed - or really anyone with info/links to Custom shift ***** besides the round ones that come with the shifter and are readily available.
I don't mind the round **** but am really looking for a different shape. I have found some custom wood varieties, but there is nothing wood grained in this car and it probably would not look right/good.

Has anyone bought, or even customized a shift **** for the MGW Flat Stick? I am thinking I might be able to tap or customize the fitting on any shift **** but there has got to be something out there that will fit and NOT be a round ****. Any links or known companies that make these?

I thought about getting a OEM Alcantara **** and trying to customize it, but at $100+, would rather not. All my searches are finding the same stuff, Round ***** or ***** for BMW/VW/Audi and other imports...

Depends what you're into!

EPCO makes the **** for MGW. They have several hundred round ones including what I bought, a cue ball size white one. They can make those up to 3 inch diameter if that floats you boat!

They have some others if you're into Devels etc!

Check out their website they appear to make them for many folks.

Pic my recent MGW install with 2 1/4 inch diameter **** I bought from them and ordered the MGW without one. The Flat Stick is a 3/8 x 16 thread.

I second Epco. I have a 2.25 plain black ball. Looks great though simple and it’s density adds to MGWs precision

Yeah, thanks guys. I have seen the shift ***** at Epco, Speeddawg, & Twistedshifterz. I was hoping to find something that was not a ball. Although the more I use the MGW ****, I am starting to like it enough to just get a different color.
Both of you say you have the 2 1/4" ball, is there much difference over 2 1/8"?

For me yes. I have long skinny fingers and a broad palm. The bigger ball fills my hand just enough better to enjoy that (circumference you know). With the smaller ball my fingers often grabbed the stick and the ball; with Epco's the ball only. Certainly a matter of personal comfort.

The biggest change is the density of Epco's ball and the fact that it screws all the way down onto the stick. For me a much better feel.

Thought the MGW supplied **** was only 2 inch diameter. Big difference from the 2 1/4, the size of pool *****.
I have made paperweights of old shift *****! 1st is from my 260Z. Bought a cheap 2 inch '8" ball **** as a test-too small. 2 1/4 is the size of a cue ball! It fits my fat hand! A 2 1/4 shift **** is to the left of "8" ball and what I took off my Grand Sport that was on the OEM shifter.

I don't think the flat shifter was meant to have anything but a ball on the end, but I could be mistaken. I have a shiny 7-speed ball for sale and a matte one from Epco.

Mostly. But as I posted, they have a "Skull" and "Devil" head if that's your thing! They also have an install kit. Guess you could epoxy a female 3/8 X 16 brass thread (if that comes with the kit) into whatever **** you can find. The "Flat Stick" has a small collar that locks the ball to the brass thread they epoxy into the ball in whatever direction desired. They supply a special wrench to tighten in the shifter kit.

But IMO a large round shape like a 2 1/4 inch diameter cue ball size helps especially with my often used 4th to 7th shift. Also with one I also use 3rd to 5th. I mostly drive in 5th, seldom use 6th but for those who like to shift from 5th to the next overdrive 6th it can help than as well. If you have large hands they have a 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch ball size. They are also in the business of making Bowling ***** so could probably accommodate that request! All made in the USA!

Not with the "Flat Stick" it only comes with a 3/8X16 threaded shifter. You can buy their older design that allows the OEM **** that also holds the aluminum leather boot ring. The Flat stick comes with it's own boot and the aluminum ring has to be cut off the boot.
One reason I picked the "Flat Stick" is my aluminum ring came lose from the leather and I had to glue it back. Also the head on the OEM screw sheared from the screw body. PIA but managed to get the broken piece out.

Thanks Jerry for the pic of the shift ***** and all the good info. If the MGW ball is 2" and 2 1/4" is a cue ball...i think 2 1/8" should be perfect for me.
I like the pic of the black and red shift ball in the car. I found a bunch of so called shift ***** on Amazon but nothing would look right in a c7.
Think its time to call Epco! They are not answering email questions...

I have a flat stick. I highly recommend a EPCO weighted ****. Back to back the flat stick feels amazingly better with weighted over the ball it comes with. It falls in gear like a well greased rifle bolt vs feeling like it requires a bit of effort. EPCO is really busy. Took about 7 days before I got a response. I just ordered a second weighted ****. This one will be black with flowing script on the top that will say,” Track Junkie”, in bright bule. Told 2 weeks to make and ship. Really looking forward to it.

Epco's website and ordering is right out of the late 90's early 2000's. That website looks soo bad. Speeddawg etc have much better sites.

Their main volume is probable resellers and folks like MGW. Don’t want to compete with your customers!

Found a very interesting "different" shift **** with a 3/8 X 16 thread. It's leather - an actually baseball!! The leather would feel great but the 2.94 inch dimeter a bit large! Great if you're a big baseball fan!

eBay $37

Has anyone since been able to find anyone who manufactures anything to fit? My main problem is my hands sweat like no tomorrow and since getting this installed the ball has been a pain. Need something with texture
