No C8 for me - Can't warm up to mid-engine

You know I never really liked the C7 design. I was at the Corvette Museum in 2014 after purchasing my new to me 2004 LeMans edition Corvette coupe. Remember seeing and sitting in the C7 at that time, seats were tight, cockpit felt little cramped, price was high, etc.
Fast forward 3 years, last two enjoying a new 2017 Corvette coupe (targa), the only thing that changed in that time frame was my ability to afford one. So my impression originally on the C7 was if I was never going to be able to afford one then I would justify that by not liking it.
C8, don’t know if I can afford this one, but it looks killer and the advancements in it I’m sure will be industry leading.
Change is the one constant, I’m on board we’re ever the ride takes me. Being part of the discussion, maybe even being able to consider purchasing one day, those are the blessings I’m grateful for. So can’t wait for the C8, never say never.

I bought my first new (C5) Corvette in late summer 2004 when the 2005 C6 models were starting to be delivered to dealerships. I had the salesperson park them side-by-side so I could literally compare the two models. I chose the C5 mostly because I always liked the looks, I knew the pop-up headlights were being phased out, plus I scored a killer deal compared to the newer model. I still have my C5, although I pretty much customized it and modernized it with better than OEM everything and I've never regretted the decision.
Fast forward to 2019, and I just added a new C7 Z06/Z07 M7. Although I was probably at least a year early in terms of a side-by-side comparison, there is a good chance I may never be able to buy a new 650+ HP, front engine, manual transmission Corvette again, so I'm very happy with my decision. I have a love/hate perspective on mid-engine cars because the ones I like, I really like, but there are other models that I think are butt ugly. With that, I trust the GM engineers will make sure the mid-engine Corvette will look like a Corvette. I think some of the camo-covered mules pictures are purposely being released to fool us into thinking we're seeing something we don't in terms of design and trim.
Either way, I will be happy to drive both my C5 vert and my C7Z coupe until I get the itch to move into a C8, mid-engine or not. All Corvettes are great and each generation represents an era in the evolution of the brand. If the C8 mid-engine doesn't grab me, perhaps the C9 mid-engine will as I seem to like the odd number generations the best, starting with the chrome-bumper era C3s.

Time marches on. The cars will change. Some will not like the change for whatever reason. Some will become new fans for whatever reason. As long as new fans equal or exceed the number that leave, the product continues on. Otherwise, the product will fail. My guess is that the Vette continues for the foreseeable future.

I think the C8 will be out of my price range so I'm sure I can find many things I don't like about it.

I agree. I simply can't understand why so many folks automatically assume they're going to be priced out of the C8. That defies logic, and would be product-line suicide for Corvette.
