Two things:

1) I have 38k miles on my 14 Z51 and my filter wasn't really "dirty" but Im glad I replaced it...definitely dusty and gritty and I do not live in a dusty or dirty area... The manual says change it at 60k miles - to me that is too long for a filter that allows the engine to "breathe"...just my .02 cents.

2) Here is a video for everyone's reference:

In the video, in one scene he is unscrewing the air box lid, then it changes to the next scene where he has the air box on the bench, but does not show him removing the air box from the car. Does the entire air box just slip out of the fender with no hassle?

It looks like Rube Goldberg was involved in designing the air filter assembly.
Typically less than a 5 minute process, now designed to not only cause frustration, but waste lots of your time.

I think he removed the entire air box for video purposes - it is not necessary.

Once you get the tube off that connects from the air box to the throttle body, you do not need to remove any more parts. he has the entire air box on the table for filming purposes. I plan on doing my cabin and air filters this coming week. I tried to be "pure" and get OEM from the dealer but $101 + tax for the air filter and $30 + tax for the cabin filter was just friggen stupid. I got a K&N for $55 and a Fram for $20 but I had to order it through Autozone thus the upcoming week's work rather than today. Corvette tax is ridiculous.

Yup and without lubricant! I ordered the K&N so I'm good for the filter but I did bookmark your link for the next time.

Check price at local auto parts place? They have runners who deliver parts to your nearest location, no charge, or will ship direct. The Advance Auto near me has K&N filter (reusable, I believe) to fit the OEM air box for $66.99 less a 25% discount, which would be $50.24 shipped direct to my house for no charge.

This binding between the filter cover and the rubber seal at the bottom of the filter is really the only problem or frustrating part of changing the filter. Yeah, you have to remove 4 screws to get the air flow duct out of the way, ...and loosen a couple of hose clamps; but, still, that's only a few minutes worth of work. If you put just the tiniest amount of lubricant (lithium grease, vaseline, or even a bit of liquid soap) on the bottom edge of the rubber seal, the tabs and filter cover will slide right into place. This makes for a very easy job start to finish. Use only a small amount of lubricant -- you don't want any of it to migrate to the MAF sensor.

I'm sure glad my service company does this for free. I'm all thumbs.

Smart move and nice of the dealership to do it at no charge.

You would think in this day and age, we could design a flow system that is easy to maintain - by that I mean easy to swap out filter type parts. Why can Lexus design a system where I flip three tabs to gain access, and can swap out the filter in under a minute???

Ok sorry - my venting is over!

PS - Please dont post "I didn't have any trouble doing it"...
Did you look for / find and follow a YouTube air filter change vid? Might've saved you some time......

Did you read the first line of his post where he mentions watching videos? Might have saved you some time by not having to ask him that....

Their price for the part is good but their shipping is over the top (in my case approx. $20 to send a light weight small filter). In many cases it is in the range of 50% the part cost. I remember checking them for a poverty splitter and it was 200% the cost of the part. You have to be careful when looking for these cheap suppliers.

It will take me years before I need to worry about this thank God. That is insane to replace an air filter.

Ouch! I see that. They used to ship for free on orders over $50. Will have to get from a different supplier now. Thanks.
