Default Flat Again

Just got a notice that my driver side rear is flat! I went out and checked it out in my garage and sure enough! This is my 5th flat on the car. Almost 78,000 miles. Looks fixable though.

Yeah, a tire shop should be able to fix that with no problems. I don't think I have had five flats in 48 years of driving. You just have some terrible luck in that area.

I had two in Portland when I lived there. Moved down here a year and a half ago and this is my third here. This is the first time in all these five that it would not have been an inconvenience to not have run flats.

Definitely fixable, hopefully you have had your allotment of flats.

Me to. Previous to this car I have only had two flat tires. Been driving since 1964!

We’ve had this chat before...31k, three flats (all road junk). Had two in three weeks this summer. Wheel & tire insurance got me a new tire every time. My five year policy has paid for itself in two years. And when I got it I was more concerned about wheels than tires. For me it’s been worth it.

Looks like you need to clean your garage more often.

I don't think I got that screw in my garage. We went for a ride yesterday and all was well until I got the email notice this morning. Come to think of it I should clean up my garage. I don't leave any screws on the floor though.
Here is the garage by the way. I never had a decent sized one before I moved down here to AZ. They are big on garages down here!

78,000 miles in just three years! This forum needs to give awards to the guys who truly drive their Vettes which you could win!

Although five flats are certainly a PITA it’s still better than replacing two windshields in three years especially given the fact I have far less miles than you. But as my wife said about my windshield replacements, they are sovereigns from fun times.

Damn, Joe, if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all.

Drive 'em that's the risk... we ALL take. Either that or leave it in the garage.

A flat every 15,600 miles? Most people don’t even put 15,600 miles on their vettes so they may never see a nail according to your numbers. You’re doing pretty well I’d say.

I've got you all beat! I just got my 3rd flat since Carlisle... 2 on Carlisle weekend and one this past Saturday.

After Carlisle I had to plug one rear tire and replace the other... and, of course, the one that went flat this weekend was the one that was replaced. Less than 500 miles on the new tire and flat again. Fuuuuuggggh

I thought I was bad. Neither one of live right! In my case, I'm glad I have runflats. In four of those situations I was not at a convenient place to plug them myself.

That's good...

So, what DO you do if you're in Arizona out in the middle of 100 miles away from anything...?

I drive until I get to Discount Tire. I've driven 75 miles on runflats before that were out of air. Technically they recommend not over 50 miles. But I have had no issues going over that mileage.
