juat got delivery of my 2014 Stingray. Haven’t registered car yet but drove it today and haven’t seen it go into V4 yet. I like the sound of car while in sport mode. Does car switch to V4 while is this mode? Or only when you’re in Eco mode! Or does the 2014 not go into V4? Thanks in advance.
The only way for the car to NOT go into V4, at some point, is to either: drive in M or have an after-market device (such as Range) installed. I guess it could be tuned out as well.
Pretty much anytime you lift off the accelerator for more than a couple seconds and not get right back on it the car will go into V4 mode. I am not a fan of how often the car moves in and out of V4 mode so I went ahead and purchased the Range. Now I have a full time V8 which is the way this car should be. The only time it should ever be de-activating cylinders is when it is set to Eco........ Oh well, the Range was a cheap and easy fix.

I don't know about the autos but when it's in manual mode I thought ECO isn't active also, go into one of the center screen modes, I think it's fuel economy and it will show you when you're in V4 and V8.
Do you have the correct screen showing on your DIC? Not all screens show the engine mode, and when working correctly you can't feel the engine switch over. Just a thought.

I wish I could, but I have no idea how to name it. My '16's screen has the mph along with the instant mpg, and the total mileage on the car. At the bottom right hand corner of the screen is the V4/V8 in smaller print. It may be close to the same on a '14. Hope this helps. If not just switch the screen around on yours while the engine is running, it'll show up I hope.

I too have a ‘14 A6. It does go into v4 in all settings, eco to track. That’s what it was designed to do. As stated above, anytime you let off the accelerator it will go into v4. If your is not I suspect it has a tune. I will be ordering a Range device also. I hate the lag when I jump on the car when it’s in v4.
One of the few auto lines where the earlier version ('14) has fewer problems than later years......
This is what I learned when researching used C7's over the past year. Initially I was convinced that the 14' would be the one to avoid. Not that case at all and wound up being the car I was actually looking for. After eliminating the small annoyance of the V4/V8 mode changing the A6 transmission is excellent. I see no need at all for the extra gears in the A8. Maybe its helpful in the Z cars but for the base engine cars I see no advantage at all.

Have to understand GM is adding gears etc to improve their corporate mpg! It’s like skip shift for those of use with standard shifts. Does not come into play often but it fits the EPA drive cycle where mpg is measured. We’ll see more of this in the future.
Good luck with the 2014. Sold mine after 3 1/2 years and was only back at the dealer for the silly seat belt software update. Great car. One word of caution, don’t press in the center of the hatch to latch it. Some folks had paint crack and others the lower hatch frame actually crack from bending! For three years learned to have my driver’s door open every time I closed the hatch. Became 2nd nature. My Grand Sport will not latch unless the door is open. It requires a slight push but has a motorized pull down. I find I often use my old habit of closing the hatch from the side as I stand behind my open door even though there is no hatch flexing issue!
The AFM doesn't seem to come on often on the C7s making it even more useless. It doesn't really save you any gas so you might as well through on your Range tool. We've sold a few of them and they seem to work fine. If you plan on getting any mods you can just have your tuner turn it off and you can sell your Range tool.

Appreciate the well wishes! The previous owner of my car has had the same experience with it prior to me purchasing it. I assume by hatch you are talking about the targa roof? If so, mine is a vert but that's good advice for anyone that has the hard top and I had not previously heard of this issue. Thanks.
The corporate mpg thing seems a bit weird to me. This is GM's flagship sports car and even without the AFM it get's great fuel economy compared to other vehicles I have owned. While every mpg is important I wonder how that is offset by all of the warranty issues they have had to address with the A8. The costs have to be significant. Sometimes corporate decisions like these can be head scratchers. Hopefully the C8 will remedy this issue entirely with a solid DCT Automatic.
