Default Winter Tire Selection Assistance

Good Morning All,

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I haven’t found the info I need yet to make an informed decision on my particular situation. Bottom Line Up Front: Should I get Alpin Pa4 or AC3+ for my particular situation?

I have a 2019 C7 GS, live in NH where it regularly drops below 45 degrees from November through March, which means that I shouldn’t be driving on stock tires for 5 months of the year. I have a second car for winter driving, but im not yet ready to put the vette away for the winter, plus as my college child comes home for holidays I need her to drive the second car so the vette needs to come out during thanksgiving and Christmas time. I never plan on driving in actual snowing conditions, but I do need the option to drive in potentially 0 degrees.

Will the AC3+ be good enough for my November-March or do I need the Pilot Alpin for the extreme situations?

Thank you,
Heath

It all boils down to whether you plan on driving in snowy, icy conditions. If you're only planning to drive on frigid days on dry pavement, the AS3+ is a better performance tire. If you're planning to drive in snow or are worried about getting caught in an unexpected snow storm, that's what the Alpin handles best. I can attest to the fact that the AS3+ still has incredible grip in single digit temps.

The AS3+ will get you home in a pinch in light snow, but in serious snow the Alpins are your best bet. The beauty of the of the AS3+ is that it's great in cold and pretty great in warm temps too. It's an ideal all around tire.

Since you say you're not planning to drive in snow, you will be far happier with the AS3+ ZP.

I DD'd in Massachusetts and went with the Alpin's. Never let me down. I think they are worth it since they will last you multiple winters.

the limiting factor in the snow will be that front lip not the tires. I just put on the all seasons and won't really drive when the white stuff hits - not so much traction but driveways and parking may require shoveling to keep the spoiler attached!
