Default Multi mode exhaust issue?

My car is brand new with only 400 miles and when I switch modes on my exhaust I don't really notice a big difference. When I checked the valves at the end of the tail pipe the passenger valve never moves and stays open all the time yet the driver side works as it should. I'm thinking they both need to open and close right?
Maybe either the one has a bad motor or it is disconnected? Anybody familiar with this issue?

They work in unison.

They fail open on engine off / loss of power. Both should move at the same time. They should be open at engine start and then close in tour / sport. The valves then both open at around 1800 rpm. You can have someone watch from a few feet away.

My buddy just had his actuator go bad on one side, when he dropped it off at the dealer there was 2-more cars there with the same problem. Bad valve actuators or solenoids.

I brought it in to the dealer today and when they checked it out they found one of the actuators wasn't plugged in. They tried to plug it in and found one of the pins was broke and it wouldn't connect. They figured it happened during production and someone on the assembly line just let it go unplugged and figured nobody would ever notice or if they did the dealer could deal with it. Well a new actuator is on order and cost 500 bucks.

Wouldn't that be covered under the warranty?

Yes it is covered. I'm just glad I checked out the valves and how they worked or I may have never known there was an issue. The only reason I visually checked them out was because I really didn't notice a big difference between modes. I wonder how many C7 owners visually check to see if the valves are working properly.

There's usually no reason to check because the difference in sound is quite apparent, especially when you change the NPP exhaust setting from Stealth to Track. Doing that and not noticing a difference is a clear sign that one or both actuators aren't working. They fail open.

Very true and easy to tell I'm sure when they are working correctly. In my case I never heard my car any other way than one open and one closed in quiet mode. Yes it does sound a little quieter but not a profound difference like when they are both closing rather than just one.

I assume you bypass a faulty valve issue by removing fuse #42 in that valves stay open thus maximizing sound?

From what I have been told is a faulty valve will stay open and not be able to close. I think most of us prefer the more performance sound with both valves open so if the valves malfunction it won't be a big deal or maybe even worth fixing.

Just what I was thinking, remove fuse #42, problem solved, unless you prefer being able to quite your C7.

I'm sure there will be times where you may want it quiet and having that option will be nice. Like on long trips when you're just cruising. Hey we paid extra for this exhaust so it might as well work as it should. Now 5 or six years down the road and it malfunctions I may save myself a few bucks and just leave it alone.

I don't find it all that loud even with the fuse pulled.

With the valves open, there is a drone at highway speeds in the overdrive gears. That annoys my wife and a lot of people, and quiet can be nice.

Good to know. I plan on taking many trips with my Vette and figured at highway speeds I might prefer quiet. I like having the option.
