Default Totaled? C7 Z06

Not sure if the insurance adjuster will total my z06
I was hit from the passenger front side by a lady in a mini-van as I was making a left turn.

Bummer about your C7! Hopefully no one was hurt (other than vehicles).
Hopefully her insurance will step up to the plate and take care of you.
Some of the folks in the C7 section may have a better feel over whether your car will be totaled.

Ouch - just had the second pic of your car come through. She got you good. Don't guess most people look when they are driving.

I doubt that will be a total based on the pics.

I don't think its totaled either. I also wouldn't worry about future problems related to this accident. It looks like a pretty straight forward repair to me.

No doubt, insurance will step up, but it may not be her fault. The OP was turning left. We don't know any more than what the OP said.

All of those parts are replaceable. Most of the repair is bolt on parts and painting. Front cross member will need to be removed and a new one welded on. Not a unibody car so can take some pretty severe hits without compromising the structure.

Would anyone here want to keep that car after it suffered frame damage?
Not me.

Doubt it as damage doesn’t not appear to total 75% of the car’s value. Had $18,800 of damage on a one year old Equinox and insurance wouldn’t total.

I don't know. I've got a friend who had a 14 3LT, and she got tagged in the rear corner in a parking lot. It didn't look half as bad as this. They totaled her car out. Obviously her car was worth less than the OPs car to begin with, but the OPs car has more damage. I never did find out the exact reason they wrote off my friend's car. My guess is that it has something to do with the aluminum frame.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

in ny if you're making a left turn (unless at the direction of a traffic signal or police officer) you are at fault.

Its only a car they make new vettes everyday but not new "yous" Glad you weren't hurt

Hoods not even bent. Can't be sure if the frame needs repair. If it does as Bill said there are many parts easily replaced by a an aluminum frame "certified" body shop.
Compared to the C6 Z06 aluminum frame that had one long hydroformed side rail each side rail now has 5 or 6 parts welded together. GM sells all of them. A certified shop would have a frame machine to put the car back to OEM specs.

You will know the extent and cost of the damage when a shop (qualified) looks at it and gives their opinion. Right now, it may not look so bad.

Will we know if/who was at fault for making the turn in front of oncoming traffic? Is there a police report? Hope no one was injured, that's the big important item.

Default If it is the other driver's fault then demand......

…..Diminished Value; when our Prius was rear-ended a couple of years ago I looked on line and there are now charts which assign (fairly) specific
values to cars in accidents and how much value is not lost. Symptomatic of Car Fax. The value I found was 1200 bucks lost value so I contacted
her insurance company and they transferred me to a guy who deals with D.V. He offered me 600 bucks and we settled on 850......worth a look for
sure.
