Default TPSM’s relearn?

Hey guys,

I have two sets of wheels and tires with TPSM’S, one set for winter and a set for summer. The guy at Les Schwab told me when I change out my winter tires and wheels for my summer set that I will have to bring my car in, because I guess they have to relearn the sensors on the summer set. It will cost my $22.00 to do it.... Anyone know of this? I always thought they just relearn automatically.....

Thanks in advance!

Per the Owner's Manual: Keep the car stationary for 20 minutes, then drive at a minimum of 12 MPH for at least 10 minutes and the system will auto learn each TPMS sensor.

(Send me the $22)

Yes, that's utter BS. I have two mounted sets of wheel/tires, and swap them twice a year. It only takes a few miles until the sensors connect with the TPMS module automatically.

As a matter of fact, I just put on my winter set last night, and this morning like clock-work, they updated within two miles.

It's the same deal. They auto-learn. When I bought my 2nd set, I simply had the tire shop mount the sensors and tires, brought them home, bolted them on myself, and drove the car. Within a few miles the system recognized all 4.

Some GM models require the learning tool but the C7 isn't one. My wife's car requires it.

Clearly Mr. Schwab hasn't worked on many C7s.

The C6 had to learn new sensors but not the C7. So he might have just made an honest mistake.

I don't know about 12mph... 10 minutes...

Just put them on and drive. The car knows what to do.
