As I got in the car this morning the horn beeped 3 times. When I arrived at my destination, and shut the engine, the car beeped 3 times again, with no message or warning lights on the dash. When I entered the car to return home, there were no beeps then or when I arrived. I have owned the car for 4 years and this has never happened before. I am sure the car was telling me that something was or isn't right, but I have no idea what the problem was. Any ideas on what could have caused the horn to beep?
If the car doesn't detect the key FOB, it beeps the horn 3 times fast. This would be if you start the car, and then exit the vehicle (while running) and the key is in your pocket...
If it continues regardless of the car running or not - you should definitely change the FOB battery. CR2032 is the battery needed.
Make sure the extra fob isn't in the car someplace left by accident. Or maybe you need to try another battery in the remote. The one you installed 6 months ago could have been bad maybe. Cheap first shot to try
If it's any consolation, my '18 has done the same thing a couple times in the last year, each just out-of-the-blue... or, so it seems. No reason fits the Manual's descriptions. Welcome to Computerville!
Mine does it as soon as I turn the car off, almost instantly, less than a second- 3 rapid honks prior to opening the door. It only does it maybe 1 out of every 10 times. Can't figure it out.
