I would like to know as well. The only thing official stated this perma-fix would be released "1st Q of 2019"; that means it could be March...

Based on that wording it sounds more like they are going to kick the can down the road until you are out of warranty and not necessarily a permanent fix. The "revised service procedure" might be just to replace fluids since they have determined that replacing the torque converter doesn't really work and costs them too much money. Honestly would be great if they would turn off AFM to fix it but i doubt they would do that.

As a potential buyer, I'm pretty much set on just looking at pictures of the car. Owning one would be a financial stretch for me, and if the transmission failed after spending my life savings for a used car, I would be out of a home to live in. Sad.
Physical handicap prevents me from buying the M7.

look for a nice, low mile 2014, they had the 6 speed automatic and no issues with shudder.

They can't do that, if you have a documented issue started before your warranty is up and they do something like this they have to still fix it under warranty.

Yeah, GM usually doesn't think that way.
But this problem has already cost GM a ton of money and it could get far worse as all A8 the cars (not just C7?) build miles but are still under the powertrain warranty.

If GM's CAFE numbers are good enough, they might be able to accept the retroactive mileage penalty from deactivating AFM, maybe just on the C7, and still keep the Feds happy.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the GM meetings discussing the problem and the solutions.
Hopefully, the person(s) truly responsible for all this, and not just a scapegoat, will be assigned to redesign the airbag stickers on our sun visors. And nothing else.

Didn't Gm remove the AFM feature entirely from the ZR-1? If so, that's the auto to have...well, obviously it's 755 hp is desirable. I have a C7 GS M7 currently, it's a blast to drive, but sometimes I'd kinda like an auto.
I like taking my car to the drag strip and autos just do better in that world. I don't think I'm liking the C8, so saving up for a used C7 ZR-1 auto may be in my future...unless it has the AFM.

Default which leads to another related question....

If you have a warranty repair and the problem continues OR reappears after the warranty is expired, are they
still required to repair the item under warranty? I can guess what the dealer/Chevy might say but what is the
reality?

It’s a shame this happened at all. Hope they can come up with a permanent fix for the A8 tranny problem.

The way I read, it says nothing about a permanent fix coming. It simply says that a revised service procedure is coming which sounds like it's simply another try at a permanent fix with no guarantee.

Interesting that the latest guidance does NOT apply to export vehicles. I think that is because they don't have AFM. HMMM??

This would be funny if it weren't so sad....
The ATF part number has changed in this TSB.... AGAIN.
In Feb, 2017 = 19353429/Canada 19353430
In Aug 17 = 19355656/Canada 19353430 (Canada part number did not change)
In Oct 18 = 19417577/Canada 19355657 (Both part numbers changed)
So is this a new fluid, or just an administrative change in the GM computer?
