Default MSD 87331 2-step

Hey everyone,
I am looking to purchase the MSD 87331 Step for my 19 M8. I dont like the factory 5k rpm launch. I'm curious if anyone has it installed and where they mounted the unit.

Attached mine to the rear lever on the passenger side fuse box with zip ties, for now. May look for a better location after I pull the engine this winter.

Right now it’s hooked to ground. I have it set to 6400 and use it as a rev limiter. I didn’t like the way the car performed when shifting my auto in manual mode. If first is held too long the factory limiter lets the car fall on its face before it will shift to second. I assume fuel cut at red line? The MSD box uses spark so as soon as I hear the limit I can pull the up paddle and it will shift into second.

After I do heads and cam a tune will be able to raise the red line as well as delete DOD. I will then start using the auto as god intended. I’ll then attach the box to the brake light switch and use as a tunable launch controller.

Awesome. I didnt even think about hooking it up to an automatic car. I would like to leave the line around 3-3.3k rpm.

Yeah, they don’t really advertise those things for automatic cars but it will work. You can trigger it with 12v, a ground signal, or a switch. I’ve used them on other cars in the past. MSD really has some great products.
