Default A8 ATF and Filter

It has been 20K miles since the dealer did my triple flush and filter with the new fluid. About ten months.
Today I dropped out 6 quarts and replaced the filter then refilled.
All I can say is "WOW!" That fluid was really dark and dirty. A lot of black on the magnets.

Keep this in mind for your next ATF change. I think I will do mine every 20K of my ownership.
It is easy and only takes about two hours.

My shudder went away, but my car has always had an occasional slight harmonic. The dealer scope says tires. My AS3+ have been road force balanced several times.
I am thinking it is still the A8, but it isn't enough to make me care. I have 22K on the tires. I will probably replace them in another few thousand miles, they are starting to slip in the rain and damp roads... We will see if the harmonic is still there.

I'll say it's the tires causing the harmonic. Suppose it cold be a rotor also, but my bet is on tires.

How did you get to the back 3 bolts on the pan?

I think it is the tires also.
All of my rotors are newish. The rear rotors aren't even broke in, yet.

The pan comes off just like the C6.
Remove the four 15mm nuts holding the differential. Then I take a 12inch piece of 2x6 between the spring and differential mount and jack up the differential.
(Don't jack your differential up so high that you car leaves the jack stands.)
Once the differential studs are flush with the bottom of the mount, you can get a 10mm on a 1/4 drive breaker bar in there.

Mike
How many quarts of ATF did you get out by just dropping the pan?

There was about six or a little more in the container and on the floor and in the paper towels and in the filter and everywhere else it splashes...

It took just under 6.5 to fill it up to start draining out while the car is running while warmed up.

Tip. wrap the exhaust with header heat wrap while you fill the pan. Keeps you from getting burned while the car is running. A roll is under 10.00 and a good tool for safety. Then just roll it up and save it for next time.
