Hi All. what is a good way for disabling the headlights from going on in my dark garage when I start the car. Any ideas ?? thanks..The off switch is spring loaded and does not stay off.
Assuming you own a C7 not a C8 from you Avatar, there is only one solution I found that works for me in a dark garage. When about to press the start button with your right hand rotate and hold the headlight stalk to the fully off position and hold it there with your left hand. Then press the start button. Do not release the rotated headlight stalk until the engine starts. Lights stay off.
Likewise, before entering your garage in daytime with the headlights off and engine running, hold the headlight stalk momentarily to the off position, a message in the DIC will state the headlight will not turn on in a darkened garage. Pull into garage, shut off engine
Unfortunately, this sequence must be repeated every time exiting/entering a dark garage.
You'll need to disable the C8's flux dynamo. Open the hood, then remove computer cover near the cowling and to the right side of the windshield washer reservoir. Next to the torque multiplexer you'll find a few jumpers, move the one from the 1-3 pins to the 2-4 pins. You're done.

Dammit! I've been looking under the hood for two hours and can't seem to find the pins.
Is your car the Camo Edition? Activate the Garage Sense switch. It has extra camo tape that automatically rolls over the lamps once it senses you're in the garage.
[QUOTE=kaplana08;1598378876]Your correct except for one thing. The warp drive is tied in with the flux capacitor and what you say will cause a melt down of the core.[/QUOTE
You are partially correct but it depends a lot on the movement of the oscillator transformer. You may notice a slight clunking of the transformer due to the angle of radial deviation from the variance of the difference between expected and actual momentum of the axis of the transformer in turning off the lights in an optimal turn while the outside oscillator wheel is tracking a divergent path compared to the inside moving more slowly. This is particularly true in the morning if there is any natural sunlight entering the larger circumference of the blocked off area of parking. Should this occur, turn the organically detailed magnetometer seventeen degrees to the left, eclipsing the tangential rays affecting the transformer.

i was not fooled. I read the c8 forum and the flux dynamo was eliminated in the C8-one of the big features of the new c8.

Yep, reminded of my old boss as he walked through the Lab if he saw someone doing something follish. He’d say with distain: “You’re solving a problem not know to exist using a method known not to work!
Being an old Navy Officer there were also ’expletive deleteds’ thrown in.
I think the OP has a good point. Having the HIDs needlessly cycle on and off thousands of times puts additional wear on the bulbs and ballasts. Considering the bumper has to come off to change a bulb I'd rather have a permanent off switch like every other non GM car. I'm not losing sleep over this but why GM, why?
Having owned C5, C6 and C7 that were/are daily drivers, my headlights probably get cycled far more than many Corvette headlights do. Never had a problem. Not worth the effort.

To those incapable of understanding the problem with Chevy's stupidity with designing a light switch this way, keep your fingers crossed that you never have to pay for a prematurely burned out head or tail light!
