Default Scratch in Bumper - Discount?

Good Day All !

I am looking at a 2016 NRB Z06 and there is a scratch on the front bumper where it looks like the license plate frame rubbed on it. We are a front pate required state, but I prefer the look without it (and would remove for shows etc...). Not sure if it can be buffed out...I am assuming it can not. Touch up paint is not an option.

How much of a discount can I or should I expect?

If from a dealer make correcting it to YOUR satisfaction a contingency of the deal... or, a drop in price to have a competent body shop do so. Same for a private seller, but YOU would take it to be fixed.

It's totally irrelevant what your state requires. Who knows where you may live two days after you buy it.

I've had that happen before and usually it buffs out. If you had to paint the whole bumper, it would be about $1,000, but I wouldn't recommend that. I hate breaking factory paint because it usually never matches exact.

Maybe the OP can post a pic?

(would be much more accurate to determine the odds of it taking a simple polishing to clear)

I agree. I didn't think to take a picture when I was there and I KNOW the mantra..."This Post is Useless Without Pics!"

Shame on me.

Well you could look at it to different ways, if you were trading your car in with a scratch on the bumper they would probably subtract 1000 plus. I'm thinking that would be a great start from your point. Or you could just ask for it to be repaired.

Buying from an individual or dealer?
Also, hard to tell without a photo showing degree of scratch. You may us it as leverage in your negotiation, however if the damage is significant enough that seller thought it may cost them a sale then they may have already figured it into their price, or if isn't significant enough they probably don't believe it warrants a discount from their asking price.

Always put some sticky foam on the back of the plate so it doesn't scuff the paint.
