I dont know what model this pic is from or trim level but my question is where does the Weather icon come from?
my previous 2017 1LT and now my 2019 GS 1LT with standard radio does not have that icon. Is it something particular to 2 or 3LT, upgraded radio?
i’m having trouble getting Apps to download on my radio (wanting the weather channel one) and OnStar has been zero help. Just wondering if there is some other avenue....
thanks!
The snowflake icon came with my 2017 GS. Yes it is a XM/Sirius subscription item. On my car, the first year for this service was free. When the free-by expired I called Sirius and the monthly fee for it with traffic as $1.99.
‘Thanks Steve....
Rather have the free weather app from Chevrolet and hotspot it....sucks having a brand new car that doesn’t work as advertised....
You need to go into the Shop icon on the second screen of the main menu. You will find the free weather app from Chevrolet there to download and you can hotspot it. Just connect your car to your phone's hot spot first and you should have no problem to download the app.
c54u,
thanks, therein lies my problem, hence my original comment about not having something on a brand new car that works correctly.
‘Whether I’m on the in car WiFi, my home network or hot spotted thru my iPhone, the APPS (my 2017 had SHOP, the 19 has APPS) icon doesn’t work. It goes into “thinking” mode and then I get any of 3 different error messages.
‘Have been on the phone with OnStar a couple times but now they have gone radio silent.
The only thing I haven’t done is reset back to factory specs, or visited the local dealer to see if they have any ideas.
If you do reset the radio to factory defaults and that does not work, you may want to disconnect the neg battery terminal for a few minutes and reconnect, just remember to re index windows after. If that does not fix the problem, I would guess an infotainment firmware reload would be in order at the dealership.

‘thanks again!
i have already tried the cable disconnect method....no help. Guess I’m just gonna have to take it to the dealer and see what they can do...
Not sure if you are thinking of getting the Weather subscription from Sirius, but I have it and to be honest, its a total waste. It gives you current weather or hourly or a forecast - nothing that a cell phone weather widget cant provide for FREE... Unless you really drive your Vette alot (like a daily driver), you will see no benefit from this subscription. Also, chances are, before you take your Vette out, Im pretty certain you check the weather, so to have it in your car saying the same thing seems to be overkill...that's why Im canceling the 6 month trial as soon as its up in Feb.
if you have Nav, the weather function (ala Travellink via XM) will give you the predicted weather anywhere along your route, at the time the Nav system calculates you will arrive at that point.
I found that useful (and ultimately, very accurate) when I was trying to determine whether to drive the C7 or the SUV on a one day/10hr round trip (with snow predicted in the region covering the middle 1/3 of the trip)
Otherwise, yea, its current weather (and nat'l weather service advisories) for where ever you are physically located at that moment.
Thanks guys....
I don't plan on keeping XM/OnStar after the free trial is up and I don't have Nav....and it is a daily driver, unless I check the weather before I leave and its nice enuff to take the bike....
As the weather in Texas changes constantly, I was happy to have the Weather Channel App in my 2017. Hot spotting to my phone gave me instant current conditions, forecast, radar, etc....yeah its the same thing I could get off my phone but I don't care to be messing with my phone while driving (nor absorb the ticket for doing so).
Any time I try to access "APPS" on the radio I get one of the 3 error messages:
"Network issues are preventing this page from loading"
"We are currently unable to access the catalog, please try again later" (I'm assuming this is the catalog of available apps MyLink radios have)
"The application is having trouble loading, please try again later"
The last time I talked with OnStar I seem to remember him saying that he could not ping the car, even though I was able to call them via the blue button during our testing. They have since abandoned me because I have not heard from them in over 2 weeks, so I have an open ticket with them that they obviously have no inclination to close out.
I'm gonna try the reset to factory defaults tonite and if that doesn't get it working like it should I'll call the local dealer and see if they have some way to re-load the firmware for the radio. I know its not the end of the world, its just a little convenience item but being a brand new car the damn thing should work! Who knows, they might just come out with an App that I would like to have and I wont be able to access it all.
well I deleted all private data and returned to factory settings and lo and behold when I pushed the APPS icon it took off and started loading all the apps available. So as of now I have my weather channel one and it works well....
cant explain why it didn’t work from the start but got it now...
‘thanks for y’alls input!
will remember this if the radio ever acts up again...

You have an extra spot for an application short cut on your screen above. If you go to the screen where you launch the weather app, if you press and hold it until it highlights, you can the drag it up to the top line of the application bar beside the settings, phone, audio or sms icon and have it as a short cut there.
You can also put the weather app in as a favorite.
Go to the screen where you launch the weather app.
Press the bottom right arrow on screen to bring up the favorites buttons.
Press and hold the favorite button you want the weather app to be in.
It will now ask you what you want to put into the favorite button.
Now press and hold the weather app Icon.
Finished.
Your weather application is now a favorite,
