Default Corvette build date

if I have a Vin number of a car is there any way I can tell how long the dealer has had the car. I am in the market for a new coupe with specific options, I found one at a deal some 12 hours away and before i start talking with them I would like to know how long he has it on the dealer lot, I figure if it just arrived they might not be so quick to want to bargain and if it say real long I may not want it because its been car lot washed 100 times or worse yet sat in showroom with every knuckled head leaning on it,

Search for it on carguru.com. It will show how long the dealer has had it, exactly what you are looking for.

Easy, ask the dealer to take a picture of this sticker that has month of manufacture on it. It really shouldn't matter how long a particular dealer has had it. You want to know when it was built and how long it's been sitting around since.

If the dealer has had it sitting for 3 months, thats good news for a buyer, they want to deal and move it, it is costing them money sitting there

Dealers often trade cars or "buy" them from another dealer. Build month will tell you how "old" the car is but not necessarily how long the selling dealer has had it on his/her lot. Good luck.

I found allot of 2018 cars still for sale, I also found a bunch of Carbon fiber 65 cars , I also came across some 2017

I wonder what the dealers do with them, They have to sell them ,but I am sure they can only discount so far before it starts cost them money to sell the car .One of the cars was built in 12/17

Order a new one then. Too much risk buying NOS. Always order one. Never a problem then.

You should particularly focus on the build dates on 2018 models, since many of them were built in the old factory before it closed for refurbishment and commissioning of the new paint facility. So there are 2018.1 models built between May and August 2017 in the old plant, and 2018.2 models built between early November 2017 through January 2018 and were all painted in the new state-of-the-art paint plant.

2019 models began production on January 29, 2018, and the earliest ones will have a 2/18 build tag. However 2018.2 models and 2019 models are identical in every way. My 2018 was finished on January 18, 2018. The last 18 was built on Friday, January 26, and on the following Monday, 19 production began with zero changes other than a change in oil spec.

The body and paint finishes are much improved on 2018.2 and 2019 models.

Great info Thank you

So now I have a question, My current 2018 Convertable, when looking at the Global connect paper work I was given when I purchased my car, States it has a build date of 10/31/2017 plant 5 does this mean it came from the new better paint plant ?
From the warranty information I also received It states its it pre deliver inspection was done on 11/17/17

What does the door sticker say?

The 10/31 date is a little odd, but it would have to have been built in the new plant since nothing was produced between August and the majority of October 2017. The 10/31 date may reflect initial start up of production in the new plant, or date it was broadcast for production, and yes, production cars were being built in the new plant on 11/17/17. The dates released when the plant re-opened was that production began the first week of November 2017.

OK I just looked in the door and it says 10/17 ,
Does anybody know when production started up again, Everything I see on Line says Nov 6th and yet the build date in my door says 10 of 17 and my Global connect paper work (given to me by the dealer show all dates of car) say 10/31/17

So to bring this up again, I ended up contacting the corvette museum today to order a letter of how many car were built like mine (see this post)
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...like-mine.html

While I was on the phone with them I asked them if they can tell me when my car was built and she confirmed 10/31/2017 , I said I thought the factory did not start up until Nov and she said it was making cars that day and as a matter of fact they produced 77 cars that day. Does anybody know the exact date they started to build cars again.

Vettes can set around a loooooong time, in part because some dealers will NOT deal on them, at least not in a timely manner. Anyone who has shopped around may have such stories to tell. One of my local dealer's salesmen nearly cried (seriously) when I told him I was done messing around and bought elsewhere. "I didn't think you'd buy so fast," he whined to me, to which I replied, "Once I found exactly what I wanted for a reasonable price you were out of the picture." And, I'd talked with him first.

"G.M. announced that 2019 would be the last model year for the C7 Corvette. The last-ever C7 production model -- a black Z06 coupe -- was auctioned off on June 28th, 2019."

Hi,
Per statement above last C7 must be done in June 2019 or before, but I see 09/19 on sticker on side of the door of my 2019 Corvette Stingray 1LT? Wondering what it meant...

Happy New Year!

Vette on!

They auctioned off the car before it was built.

2019 production ended in September.

And you bumped a year old thread.
