I’m a bit baffled by c7 used prices as suggested by KBB and auto trader. Considering that 2018,19s can be had for about 20-25 percent off, who would pay only 30 percent off msrp for a used 2016, or 17.
im in the process of buying a 1LT grandsport Brandew for about 55k new which is around 20 percent off, yet the lowest I have been able to negotiate on this car in used market is 52k. Even at 50k I would still opt out for brandnew.
More baffling, corvette used private market is down right awful, given the amount of time the cars stay in the market.
I don’t suppose carmax would offer more than 45k for a used 2017 1LT with 68k msrp and 10k miles on the clock, which makes a 47-48k offer reasonable.
same goes for 2016 1LT z51. The lowest I have negotiated is 45k for one with 3k miles. I almost bought one brandnew back in 2016 for 50k. That’s only a 5k depreciation over 3 years which in my mind is unreasonable.
ive also found a 2015 base manual. The owner is asking 39k and will not go lower. He is the second owner and the car has 15k. I’ve priced a 2018 brandnew base for low 40s. That doesn’t make any sense.
here is my point, KBB suggested price is at least 10 percent above what the market dictates. That throws off the owners that think they are sitting on gold.
Sounds like you're getting a good deal on that GS. In my area, Vettes are at a premium. There's a 2016 Z51 with 12k miles in a used car lot and the dealer started at $50k. They dropped it to $49k and some change and I just checked the website... It's gone.
I felt like I got a good deal on my '17 GS 2lt @ $57k with 1800 miles in Aug.
Also, these cars have SO many options that can really effect price. You want to make sure you're comparing apples to apples.
If you can find new 2019 at 20-25% off msrp you should snap it up. I've not seen that anywhere, and I just bought a new 2019 from MacMulkin several months ago so I've been looking at everything out there for months

20-25% can be had easily n the 2018s . For 2019s it would take a month or two
A dealer near me had a base model 3lt automatic 2018 30 percent off. 68k msrp, selling price 49.5k
i wasnt in the market for 3lt automatic base though
My bet its because its December (Sports cars are always cheaper in the winter)... and many of the cars you've posted are low option cars with automatic transmissions. When I was shopping this past summer I noticed it was hard to find any deals on cars in good colors too.

The A8 is an $1800 option. Doesn't make it cheaper. And also...what do you consider "good colors" ?
Ok here's my take:
Nothing unusual on the used market, it's the new market that's interesting.
If you go into Cargurus or Autotrader and select all the new Corvettes on sale for 2018-2019 nationwide, you'll see the vast majority of them are 1LT GS or base Stingrays.
e.g., on Cargurus, it's 220 new 1LT GS and over 1200 1LT Stingrays listed tonight.
A few 2LT GS. A few 2LT and 3LT Z51 and base Stingrays.
Zero 3LT GS- they're gone! Also no Zs- you're going to have to get them built or used unless inventory comes in, not captured by cargurus.
My read is this is a last ditch sale to clear the lower priced inventory before the end of the month/year. Maculkin is running their sale for 2 weeks until 12/17.
Great opportunity if you want one of these trims new...
If i didn't just get my leftover new '17 Z, I'd go for one of 24 new 2LT GS M7 for $60-61k or one of five (MN, OK, IL, MD, and NC) 3LT Z51 M7 for $61-64k...
You can't trust CarGurus web site for good and great deals.
Dealers and sellers have learned to work the system. I have found cars listed as a good deal and called on them to find the dealer adds 800.00 doc fees and 1200.00 reconditioning fees.
None of that is listed in the CarGurus ad. So be-careful when buying using CarGurus. Ask lots of questions.
Also make sure you are comparing to the used market make sure you using the real selling price of a new C7 from the dealer, not the advertised price. Most of the time buyers will not qualify for every rebate listed, etc. and don’t forget dealers fees, etc that added back into a new car deal. As mentioned already there are a bunch of options on these cars, which can swing the MSRP quite a bit so it is hard to compare apple to apples.
I haven't seen any 2019's for 20-25% off. I ordered mine and got 12% off along with a great deal on my trade in. I know some dealers have discounted up to 14%.
If you were buying new GM just had till the end of Nov. 36 months no interest. 0 percent. I was going new for a 2019 grand Sport. Like the wife said I got the car I originally was going to get. Traded my C5 Z06. Plus got great deal on my 19 Z06 and 0 percent interest.
Used prices in Canada have been even higher, in relation to the price of new that is. I had every intention of buying a used C7 but prices just weren't dropping enough last year, I really wasn't seeing too many of them priced under $60k Canadian, and I got my brand new 2018 exactly how I wanted it for $63k CDN. It was a no brainer.
The original MSRP in 2014 was $55k CDN, and the lowest used C7 on Auto Trader in all of Canada right now is asking $48,200. So for some reason, used prices here have not dropped as much as the C5 and C6 did up here when it got this far into the production cycle (I was able to purchase my C5 and C6 used for about half of the original MSRP, that's definitely not happening with the C7 here)
C'mon folks, its Marketing 101. You can't compare new car internet pricing.Even the high-volume #2 Corvette dealer (won't mention names) advertises "As low as " pricing with GM combination discounts (current lessee + veteran + born in 3rd month in the year of the monkey). The asterisks saves them from false advertising laws.... Legal yes, honest, no. While the dealers didn't invent this (GM corporate did), they will use the tools they have in order to snag the ignorant.
Things may be changing though. Some dealers are starting to advertise online with "The price everyone pays", so maybe we are nearing the end of this deceptive tactic. I wonder what will try next.
