Default Vette outside in cold weather

How do you guys in per say really cold weather that leave your cars set outside get into them. I did last night it got down to 18 deg went out at 7:15 to let the dog outside ICE on the car really bad went to try to get into the car. Well the dam door almost didn't open and worse then that you know when you open the door the window will drop down on the car maybe 1/8 of a inch. Well it wouldn't do it couldn't close the door without it hitting the pillow.

I started the car had to let it warm up with the door just almost closed until it got warm enough for the sitting on the car to let it work correct. I will be pulling the car inside if I drive it in the winter any more now... Robert

Auto indexing windows have been around for 30 years for frameless door windows to help seal them, so this isn’t anything new, and affects most cars parked outside in the cold with regards to ice. There is not a lot that you can do to stop the windows from freezing... Some suggestions would be a car cover, or possibly auto start to warm, if equipped... maybe add a seal dressing, but the windows would typically not be seized at the A and B pillars, or roof. There are also deicers available, but I personally wouldn’t want to use them on my car. Being able to pull your car inside, as you mentioned, is obviously your best choice.

I assume you have all-weather ties and not the summertime only run-flats? If not, I would be more worried about cracking. I would most definitely park the C7 in your garage in such cold temps as opposed to leaving it out.

It's Winter weather hardships like that, that makes having a garage or at least covered parking incumbent at your residence and workplace. If you truly do use your C7 as your DD, then you have no choice but to warm the car up before opening it's doors. If you've got the AT, all you need to do is set the heating fan on your HVAC, to desired max and start it remotely, warming your C7 when parking for extended hours. If you've got the M7, no covered parking, well, you're in for a lot of what you just described when your C7 is encased in ice/snow.

I put a thin coat of dilectric grease on the weatherstrip and that helped. Never had a tire issue.

I agree I have two two car garage's on the house but with 6 diff cars even have one up on a 4 post lift. I don't have to drive it as a DD. It is only a 2014 with almost 10,k miles on it I just cant believe I let it set out last night. But it is what it is I do how remote start and use it most all the time. But I had to let the dog out and just didn't remote the car. Robert

Default tires

according to the manufacturer, with summer tires, If the temperature is less than 20 degrees, the car should not be moved. The rubber could crack and ruin the tire.

No the 20 degree applies to all C7 Pilot Sport Cup tires. The PSS2's are not to use under 32 degrees.

Actually if you take the time to set things up in the settings, you don’t have do any setup on the heat or air conditioning. The systems uses the ambient temperature to decide if the heat should be on or the A/C in the summer when you remote start! Have the same on my CTS-V and use it all the time.

it applies to any summer only tire , not just the cup tire ...MPSS are also susceptible to cracking if subjected to 20 degree temps and moved ...

My 17 GS sat in a freezing rail yard for several weeks before delivery. When it arrived in California my dealer they had to replace all four tires due to cracking.
