Who has their front window tinted? Mine is from the previous owner and I need to replace it from a small crack. Not to fond of it at night but love it during the day. Wondering what you have and if you like it.
I have Johnson IR80 and love it, night driving is no problem, it may be a shade or 2 darker than original... during the day it is a major improvement and something I wish I had done when I first got the car, maybe my dash would not have died a horrible death...
I know the window needed cleaning here are some shots, I purposely shot them at that time to show the glare that happens sometimes...
Had my 17 vert done with some kind of clear uv protection film. I cant tell if its even on the windshield. day/night driving is good HUD is good. It's been on for just over 2 years
I am considering a relatively new film... Xpel Prime XR Plus on the windshields of the vette and truck because that is where I feel the most sun invasion into the cabin.
I've seen it installed on a truck windshield, and I could not tell was there.
It is clear or can be had in various levels of tint and blocks out 98% of infared heat. https://www.xpel.com/

This looks less obvious than other front tints I have seen. Very nice. I suppose as long as you don't get too greedy, you can get away with it.
To me, I always thought tinting a front window made no sense because it was so obvious for the cops to spot, and you would have to rip it all off while he stands there to remedy an unsafe driving condition. My other nagging concern is if you were involved in an accident that injures (or worse) another driver...you've intentionally made your car unsafe, so its hard to defend in court.
But then again, i'm paranoid, and carry too much insurance.
My shop carries a 3M ceramic which is only almost clear. If you didn’t know it was on, you would not see it. I looked at it on his wife’s car and will get it in the spring. I have the ceramic on my other windows and it makes a huge difference with the heat.
Does the front windshield need to come out to be tinted? If I do want tint reinstalled I may have to do some coordination, window installer & tint place.

One if the best engineered tints out in the market place is 3M Crystalline Series films.

No. Go to a shop that specializes in film installation. When they cut a film for a front window it is measured and cut using the outside of the window first. The installer then does a relatively easy install on the inside. If you have a HUD you may want to first speak with the film manufacturer to see if it will work well with a HUD.

^^That is correct. It's the largest piece of glass on the whole car. I have 70LVT 3M Crystalline on the front windshield and eliminating the IR heat made all the difference in the world. I wish car manufacturers cared about IR as much as windshield UV (the Corvette - all C7 models and probably most manufacturers - eliminate at least 95% of UV).
My other concern are the remaining windows, especially the side windows with little to nothing for UV or IR. At least get quality tint or film on there to eliminate both UV and IR from the side windows.

With the 3M 70LVT, any issues at night? What the previous owner put on my car, too dark, horrible at night...not sure what it is.

The number "70" means it transmits 70 percent of all visible light. This number is the Federal law accepted for front windshields. You will not have any problem with that number. Do not go any lower.

In a word for me: no. My shop had good examples from 90%-50% on existing windshields. 70% was perfect for me. I keep saying "for me" because I'm a good night vision guy. I know many are not. You might want to get to a tint shop and see what they put on there. I also have 30% sides and 5% rear. I don't want to tempt "the man" if I go darker on the sides.
35%.....Go ahead, call me nuts for being so dark. 5% on back and sides
Do you drive at night? Mine has front tint from the previous owner and I’ve got to get it removed because at night visibility is reduced way too much. And if it’s night AND raining? Forget it! You can’t see a darn thing I’d guess my front is 45% and rear / sides are 10% but not really sure. However (knock on wood) my 3LT dash hasn’t bubbled up so that is a plus, I also use a sunshade when parked to keep the sun out.
We live in the Land of the Endless Summer. Stunningly bright sun 350+ days a year. It gets hot early and stays hot late. But that is what we like about S AZ. What we don't like is folks so concerned with 'aesthetics' that they become a hazard to me and my family. Leave the windshield factory stock. The better you see, the better you see me. I'll comp the courtesy.
