I have a 2015 base Stingray. On my drive today I found that the climate control would not switch modes. It would only let air out of the dash vents. Pushing any other mode didn’t work. Any ideas to fix would be much appreciated.
Could be only a temporary glitch. Does it still have the problem after shutdown and restart? If it persists, I would try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, reconnect it. This effectively reboots all the microprocessors on board. See if that fixed the problem. If problem persists, probably time to take it to the dealer.
Well I was just about to take my car to the dealer. I searched for codes and found none. Then this morning after a remote start, the climate controls are working again. Very strange. I now remember that this issue started after the last time I used the remote start feature. Some how the controls were stuck on the dash vents and the next remote start seems to have fixed it. Anyone else experience this?
Comparing the lines of code for just the Linux kernel to all of car software is a pretty disingenuous comparison. To be closer to reality you'd need at the very least the kernel, probably Google Chrome and/or Firefox (including Mozilla Core), MySQL, Open Office, The Debian 5.0 codebase (which I assume are things like the various shells, compilers, linkers and loaders), the X window system, a package manager like synaptic/apt/yum, a desktop like gnome, kde, etc.
Wired stated in https://www.wired.com/2012/12/automotive-os-war/ "a typical new car has about 100 million lines of code" whereas Computer world stated in https://www.computerworld.com/articl...tribution.html - "The results of applying these tools to 2008's Fedora 9 Linux came out to a total of 204,500,946 physical SLOC (Source Lines of Code)" - and that was 2008! Plus I doubt that car engineers are that thrifty with their code and there's probably a ton of waste, whereas gcc, for example (https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pa...tem&px=MTE1OTg) - "there's been 24,456,429 lines of code added and 17,108,190 lines removed"
I don't think they were necessarily making the comparison, just reporting things. I'm just trying to set the record straight that Linux != just the kernel. Comparing say MyLink to say VLC would be a fair comparison. But I've quite a few people here seem to say that car software is way complex when compared to other things. This is not true.
Well it turns out that the blend actuator was bad and needed to be replaced. It took a complete dash removal to get to it. Thankfully under warranty.
But I have a question. Could one of you fine members confirm the actual operation of all the modes? Mainly the floor mode. Since the repair, there is a lot of noise comimg from the top of the dash and air also coming from the side window defroster ducts when it should be floor only. Thanks in advance.
My 2019 Grand Sport is at the dealership right now for air coming out at the dash when it's set to floor vent. Floor vent worked properly for ~ 1 month then failed. They're had it all week and still not fixed I'll let you know what they repaired when I get it back.
