Default Key fob not recognized

My 2016 Stingray has sat in the garage for 6 weeks with the battery tender connected. I tried to drive it yesterday but both key FOBs have no effect on the car and the doors will not open. I used the FOB key to unlatch the hatch and opened the driver door with the manual door release.
The alarm system went off and the FOB would not silence it. Withe the driver door opened, the car still does not respond to the FOB.
What is going on?

Start off by placing the FOB in the steering column slot. Does the car start? If so, get new batteries for both FOBs.

Further testing can be found here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...s-and-rke.html

I have a 2016 and both FOB batteries died about 3 weeks ago. Replaced batteries and all is well. You Tube videos of the procedure made it easy.

Default FOB not detected

Thank you forum responders......
After reading CliffB's input, I tried the obvious and easiest first. Drum roll......cymbal crash, all is well with new FOB batteries. Amazing BOTH FOB batteries would go dead at the same time!!!
I live in Carlsbad CA so have zero excuse for ever not driving my car for 6 weeks. Won't happen again!!

Seems common that both FOBs die close to the same time. My FOB went dead on my 14, and its the one used 98% of the time. My wife's FOB the spare, the battery died the following week.

This is because the vast majority of owners use their fobs passively. The fob uses a small amount when "answering" a query from the car. The fob uses a minicule amount of energy "listening" all the time, anyway, so that combined with the spare fob your wife carries is answering the car as well, it's not surprising that the batteries fall below the "strong enough" point closely enough together to notice that they fail at about the same time.

Use the fob key to open the case. Any time you use a screwdriver to to pry on the edge of the case, you can damage the FOB case. My $.02 Other than that, good video.

I found the same thing. Interesting story:

I changed The FOB battery I use all the time with a "new" one I bought cheap on Amazon in ~2 years just as a precaution. In one year it failed. Used the FOB that sat in a draw for 3 years and it also failed.

Checked both batteries with a meter I have used for years that puts a load on the battery (depending on the size selected) and both read "just in the OK" analog scale. Bought new "quality" batteries that read strongly in the GREEN good area. Both were fine.

My conclusion: the C7 FOB batteries need to be relatively new and a simple voltmeter check may not find a weak one. Also don't buy the lowest cost batteries on eBay or Amazon!

Same thing happened to me - brand name, but cheap, Amazon batteries failed quickly.

My 2014 CTS Vsport FOBs just failed within a couple of weeks of each other. The first one took me a couple of hours and a trip to the hardware store. The second one took about 2 minutes.
