My 2017 Grand Sport was delivered last night to North Carolina (from Bellevue, WA!). The car is friggin' AWESOME! Truthfully, I'm a bit intimidated by the power and grip and really look forward to learning how to use it. I have owned a BMW M5 (and a 540, 740), a Porsche 911T, 944S, and BoxsterS as well as a Jaguar XK9, but this 'Vette is a different class of animal! What I could use is some advice about tires - the stock Michelins are not good below 42 degrees F and I want to drive the car year-round (obviously not in snow and ice). If anybody can help, it would be appreciated. Is there a market for the Michelins? they have less than 1800 miles on them. Thank for the opportunity to connect!
Welcome! There is nothing out there like a Corvette....although all of the cars you have owned are excellent in their own right.
The stock Michelins are just fine for cold weather, especially if you live in NC, where winters can be fairly mild. The trick is to be reasonable with them according to conditions. If its cold outside, don't stomp on the gas and keep a reasonable following distance.
Even if you do over-do it with the throttle, the rear tires will just spin and the traction control will keep the car going straight.
Some of the guys that drive their car year round and live up in the northeast buy a second set of wheels with winter tires on them.
