I have a 2015 ZO6 which I recently purchased. The infotainment system only sees the iPhone music through blue tooth and not at all through USB, resulting in having to control many functions through the phone. Anyone have an idea how to get the system to see the iphone through the USB?
OP: I have a 15 and the iPhone hook-up etc. is a PIA. I just loaded a 4GB flash-drive and plugged it in behind the nav screen. My iPhone works great in my 18 Acura with CarPlay, but not worth the effort in my 15 C7.

are you trying to play Apple music? Or something else like Spotify or Pandora? My iPhone is glitchy, and will only play from the Apple music app seamlessly, Spotify or Pandora is extremely glitchy. I reached out to GM, and they said that only Apple music through the iPhone is supported through the infotainment system. I don't know if that helps at all!? FYI I have a 2014
Cost me about $1,250 to upgrade the AMG navigation module and the Radio module to IO6 which is the current hardware. I now have apple car play in my 2014 Stingray. I installed both modules myself and a dealer will do it for you for the measly sum of $350.

I've been wanting to do that Could you pm with some tips or the process on doing it yourself please? Thank you so much!

There are a lot of posts on this topic. I did the upgrade to my 2014 (non Z51) to the I05 setup (no factory Nav) to get Apple CarPlay capability. Now the newer NavTool, I believe, has more capability than the original one I had back then. So for what it's worth, here's my story:

Sure, I will just post it here. I have a 2014 Stingray 3LT with a GPS antenna already. That is the third part of the new system and probably the hardest to install. The other two parts are snap out and snap in but that is easier said than done. The nav module or AMG is above the left foot rest on the drivers side. You simply stand on your head with you feet out the window, unsnap the wires, and hit the two release buttons on the lower part of the factory module and slide it out. Reverse the process and you are done until you get the blood back down to your feet, have a beer and stomp around cussing and declare partial victory.
Victory is sort lived as you confidently move to the XM radio module. You will pay dearly for that overconfidence. The module in the passengers foot well behind the carpet and behind two barriers. Remove the passenger carpet by pulling at the top under the dash until you fart and turn red. Then figure out you should have removed a trim piece holding the carpet in place. After fighting with the carpet you will see a nice silver plate with about 3 ten mm bolts holding it in. Remove those and remove the silver plate. You are now half way through the steps but only 1/10 way into the frustration. Now you are faced with a large black plastic wall and on the back of that wall is the XM radio module. Fight with it and do not let it win. Took me about half an hour to get it out enough to unplug the connectors and then slide the module out of the holders. Once out, slip the new module in. At this point I found the XM module to be cuss proof, otherwise I would have melted it. Slide it into the brackets, put the black plastic wall back, put the shiny foot rest back in, put the carpet back, put the trim piece back in.
Then test it. Mine worked perfectly, but it may be wise to test the apple car play function by using a cord to your iPhone before you put it back together and go back to the beer store because you ran out while doing this. If you have to put the GPS antenna in, I can't help much there. Have fun.
We use a 128G USB stick plugged into the port behind the Info Screen. Got it at WalMart years ago. It has 10000+ songs on it. Our joint AARP lifetimes of 45s, LPs, cassette tapes, and CD/DVDs. Robert Johnson to Lady Gaga. Bought, borrowed, bartered, and a few the ubiquitous downloads. Set to shuffle. This works perfectly every day every way. The band plays on when we push Start. And leaves the building when we push Stop. Even given the amount of DD time in the car, I'd wager our first born we will never recall a repeat. Age has it unintended upside. Eh? My wife's shiny new iPhone XS Max 256G paired easily and has worked flawlessly hands free in the car since. As a phone not as a player. We sync'd the XS Max to our iTunes music because we could. But we don't need it as an on the road music player. Plus, its a car stereo after all is said and done. And just a kind of good one at that. So no point to be made no clear benefit to be gained spending money on wanna overcoming needa.
But here is the very best part of our approach for you. Because we spend zero time fiddling with our electronic devices in the car. We can spend full time avoiding distracted drivers who insist on fiddling with their phones in the car. A win win for all besides us.

But we were not discussing music. We were talking about upgrading to 3d navigation and Apple Car Play or Android so you can use google maps, waze etc.

Spotify works great on my iPhone for 2015, yes it is a PIA to change music via the phone and not the car's screen, but no glitches for Spotify ( I have Spotify premium)
PDR is pregnant and don't remember or it may also be Performance Data Recorder if you are dealing with a Corvette. Don't know what a PTM is but it probably has something to do with performance monitoring or recording.
