C7 for C6 Z06
I have a really nice 2016 Shark Grey Stingray with the A8 trans. I really wanted a 7M but was overruled. I found a impeccable C6 Z06 of course with a 6M, would you go for it? With all the A8 issues maybe now is the time.

Absolutely not. There is no way I would go back to a C6, the C7 is superior to the now dated C6 in every way. Plenty of C7's with the M7 out there if that is what you want,

No to the C7 M7 but yes to the C6 M6? Doesn’t make sense but I’d go with the C7. I was considering a C6 Z as well. I ended with a 2019 Grand Sport. Awesome car.

Have you ever driven a C6 Z or even a standard C6 for any length of time. Although it may not be possible I believe you really need to do that to make an intelligent comparison and to make sure there are no regrets. I owned and tracked an '09 Z for over 4 years before I moved into a '14 C7, Z51, 7M coupe. I initially missed the low end grunt and phenomenal torque of the C6Z. It was a great track car, especially with different sways and shocks and got around the track faster and better that most, but I kept sliding around in the seat which affected my driving. If you're not tracking your car, the C6Z may be a great alternative to your 2016 but unless money is of great concern, why not try finding a great deal on C7 7M with at least a 2LT option as you'll find a few on Autotrader and the like. I traded my '14 on a new '17 Z in September and even though it's sleeping for the winter, the 2300 miles I put on it gave me no pause to regret my decision to make that trade. Good luck.

I'm in the minority, but I really miss my C6 GS. I have a C7 Z51 now but to me the C6 was more "corevetty" My C6 was also screwed together better and had a lot less NVH than my C7. I would still have my C6 but I daily my cars and tend to get rid of them once they hit 50K miles.

I would c6Z is moar prestige, lighter, more power/torque, looks dated af, dosen't look aggressive... but yeah I would be all over it if I had a c7 SR/GS, if you can get a c6ZR1 then win win! But ya c6Z/c6ZR1>c7 SR/GS.
Now if you dont want to go back then ofc the c7 ZR1 is the way too go so far, doesn't appeal to you then the c7 z06 is a close runner up. All in all do what makes you happy they're all vettes and all beautiful!!!!
in b4 I get flamed. Dont worry I got my flame suit on!

Just traded my C6Z for an M7 C7 GS.
The Z had a few things going for it: Big cube torque, lightness, and more “hardcoreness”. But that’s it.
The GS has sharper turn in, awesome adjustable suspension, an intoxicating exhaust note, a way better heads up display, a much better stereo, equally good brakes, active rev matching, way better seats (I have comp seats), nicer interior, a removable roof, much more aggressive look...
Oh yeah and the GS doesn’t have a $15k motor where you’re always wondering if today is the day it goes boom.
The Z was my first Corvette and I LOVED it, but I have no regrets about trading up.

Having put 80k miles on my base C6 and selling it after it was damaged I bought a C7 z51. I have put about 8 k miles on it and can say without hesitation I would take a C6z over my C7 in a heart beat.

If you were overruled on a manual tranny C7, why wouldn't that happen with a manual tranny C6? Just curious.
Personally I like the C7 better, but if I were going for a C6 it would have to be either a GS, Z06 or a ZR1.
