So I did the $99 GPS Nav update on my 2015 Z51
Even though the written instruction in the case said to not drive your car while the upgrade is running, the instruction on the Infotainment said "You may drive your vehicle" during the update. It took ~ 45 minutes. So I had an excuse to drive the car around. I didn't sit right with me to keep my car on idle for 45 minutes. I am glad I could drive the car during the upgrade.

Good report, FT. I love my 3LT's NAV. I use NAV every time I hit the road in my C7!! I like how it works a lot better than my Smartphone too! #

I have the upgrade ready to install in my '14 - good to know that you can drive the car around during the install instead of just letting it sit and idle.

You mean I could have simply spent $99 instead of updating my '14 to a '19?

Probably on a par with what Smartphone companies pay for an app. With economies of scale if GM wanted to license Google Maps for every car it sold, say 10 million cars a year, they ought to be able to negotiate $10 a car. After all, using the app store and a smartphone consumers can get it for free right now. All GM would be paying for is the right to integrate it into their platform. The only thing really wrong with Google Maps in cars right now is the klutzy way you have to make it all work with using your smartphone, wires, etc, and the fact that it is not integrated into the rest of the car's systems. Even if you take umbrage with my estimate, go ahead and double it. It's still trivial compared to the cost of a car.
