Hello,
My name is Rich K. from Howell N.J. I just purchased a new ('19 ) black Grand Sport 2LT. Just happened to see on You Tube 'bout some automatic transmission problems on some C 7 's, torque converter issues?
Has G.M acknowledged there is problem?, anyone have more information on this ?
Excited to be here, Thank you,
Rich K.
P.S I once owned a 1975 corvette that I purchased from my younger brother in 1980, (had it for approx. 5 years) after he bought a 1965 yellow coupe.
Welcome, Rich, be patient as this question has been talked about a great deal here. I can't give you particulars but you can do a search here before a few of the members answer. Enjoy your new baby.

Welcome! I seem to feel that the newer 2019 Vette with the Auto have far less problems than older C7 cars do.
I'm sure after reading conflicting answers you will be confused also!
Thank you. I am not computer savvy, have a difficult time getting 'round on the forum. Forgive me for my ignorance in this matter.

Welcome to the club! Easiest way to get there, google (when I say Google I mean use Google)" c7 transmission problems ", when the results come up, first one should read "More A8 transmission problems" Click on that and it will send you to the thread in the Corvette Forum.Just for your info, the eight speed automatic in C7's (A8) has been plagued with issues,My Stingray has had the torque converter replaced, the entire transmission replaced and last thing, we had to replace the flywheel. I don't think the problem is as prevalent on later model years (18-19) but read thru the thread so you have an idea what's going on just in case your car starts showing some of the symptoms. Hope nothing goes wrong with you baby and again, welcome.
Yes, there are a lot of concerns about auto transmission issues on this forum.
I for one, have had none! Although, I do drive the speed limit and do not participate in any off road events.
My ride= 2016 Base model 19,500K Auto 8-speed.
Many thanks,
Ray
Just for the record ,how you drive has nothing to do with it, I drive mine like you drive yours, no track no flying down the road and no laying ribber at every traffic light. and the probles still happened. The TC went south when the car had 6,000 miles on it! If you've had no problems consider yourself lucky.
Thanks again everyone. Just sold our, (wife's) '95 Mazda Miata "M" edition to a nice kid (35 yrs old) in Ohio for $12,500. He flew here, had his checklist, test drove it, bought it and drove the car back to Columbus Ohio on 12/21. I bought the corvette the next day at Kerbecks in A.C, N.J .
Hopefully I will not have a hard time putting miles on the 'vette , the Miata only had 7,869 miles on it.
Have 3 cycles I plan to sell this spring,a '98 Valkyrie, a 2004 Rune and a 2006 Gold wing
Once again,
Thank you for the warm welcome, 'cause its cold in N.J!

Rich, we just traded our '16 Stingray A8 for a '19 Grand Sport A8. The '19's transmission is on the mark, and it doesn't suffer from the stupid problems of the earlier A8's. I think GM has quietly taken care of those problems. But, I do have a Range V4 disabler that will be on my GS every time I go out to keep the car out of that aggravating V4 mode. Speculation by many of us has it that the V4 mode could be part of the torque converter clutch's problem as the miles build. I have no idea if that correct, but I do know my '16 A8 shifted mush better with the Range unit, and the shake when the car changed back into V8 mode was gone. I said all that to say this, don't worry, just enjoy the car. Congratulations, and welcome to the forum.
Congrats and welcome to the forum!! While I can’t speak for the A8 as mine is a M7 I can say that you bought a hell of a car. Good look and many miles of smiles!! Mine came from Kerbeck too😎
Thank you for your response. I have a Honda Gold wing. Quite a few GL1800 forum members ( not myself ) had transmission problems ,when shifted into 5th gear, some would pop out. Over time it did damage and some transmissions would fail. Honda would never address or admit there was a problem.
Thank you for that advice on the Range V4 disabler . I will look into it.
Oh, not sureif I mentioned that my 'vette is a coupe> I will try later to post a photo. I am not sure if I have the smarts but will try!

NJ has some good events you should look into, you can meet other Vette owners that I ma sure will have some good advice. Look under regional discussion. Cars and coffe in Millstone is supposedly a good one in the spring. I just got a Vette myself and have not attended any yet but I am going to try. I have an M7 so cant help w the A8. Post some pics in case I see u on the road.

Will look into the Millstone meet this spring.
Thanks,
Rich
