Default Almost impossible to shift

Just an observation that when its cold the shift is really notchy. Well today is 2 f and its almost impossible to put it into gear. Im sure when the tranny warms up it will improve but just surprised by the difficulty ive had shift. Be safe

It was 16 here this am and they are stiff in cold weather. I sometimes just start off in second when it’s below 20. 2 to 3 shift seems easier until it warms up

I had 2 other cars that had manual transmission(Mustang and Hyundai Elentra) before my corvette and t hey both had 1 and 2 gear being notchy in cold temperature. I believe this is a normal behavior. I rather have a notchy transmission for a few minutes than torque tube warbles.

I can see you guys don't have the summer tires. I need some all weathers.

True that!!! Just recently put the Michellin ASW/3 on mine and love them!
As for the slow shift with M7 in super cold weather (11 degrees here today) that clears up before I get out of my development.

Another reason not to drive a Corvette in the winter (along with the summer tires)

Every manual I've driven (a LOT) in my 70+ years has been stiff when cold; and the colder, more so... you should have driven ones with 90w gear lube!

I have the same issue with my 2017 grandsport. There is a thread dating back to 2014 about this. I noticed this in my GS Sunday when temps dropped into the high 30s.

Eliminating the CAGS, will improve the M7, C7's shifting band as well.

Computer Aided Gear Selection on manual Vettes. It has been around since the C4. Easily eliminated by just pushing down a bit more on the gas pedal, no special gadgets/devices needed.

CAGS forces the shift lever to go from 1st to 4th (locks out 2nd & 3rd gear) under certain engine parameters & at speeds between 1 - 19 mph, if I remember correctly. I've never experienced it with the M7 yet but I remember it happening once in a while in my C4.

Just be glad they switched the transmission lube over to Automatic Trans fluid with the introduction of the C5. Imagine what it would be like with the 75-80 gear oil they used to use in transmissions. It was really hard to move the shifter on those old transmissions when the weather was cold. Sometimes it felt like the linkage was bending.
