I believe it was a two fold issue, ill fitting oil filter and blown lower intake gasket. The dealer fixed gasket at 35 k and then replaced engine at 45 k. I remember the fight I had to through for them to replace the eng. and I swore Chevy off back then.

I considered a C5 but got a SRT-6 Crossfire instead. Thought about upgrading to the C6 but for whatever reason just never pulled the trigger. Came across my C7 on Car Gurus and I loved the spec. Called them that day and said hold it I’m coming to get it.
Yes, the C7 is my first Corvette. Wanted a Corvette forever but always had other priorities. Decided 2018 was the year - had a budget of $30k, was going to buy a C6. Started shopping and took the wife on a test drive. She thought the car looked great but in her words "the interior has no wow factor". Jumped in a C7 a few minutes later. She said "I love it, buy this". But, budget, honey? "Do whatever you want, but you should get this one."
My first corvette was a 1980, in 1985. I kept that 80 until August 2017. Put 3 different motors in it, and two transmissions, one rear end, and two complete suspension overhauls.
While I owned that car, had a 78, that I put a 454 in, with a m-22 manual trans and 411 gears. My ex-wife totaled it four months after I finished it. I then got a 73 factory big block car I had 3 years. Then I got re-married and went back to just the 80.
Then for 2.5 years I had the 14 and the 80. Sold the 80 as I just was not driving it enough even though it was quicker in the 1/4.
Traded the 14 for the 18 Grand sport. When I retire I will look for a C3 to play with also
I fell in love with the 69 Red Corvette above, it was my nephew's car and I new at 9 years old I wanted one... Took me 40 years and waiting 4 years after the C7 was released but I finally have my first Vette..
