What caused my in service date to start 3 weeks before I received my car? The "My Chevrolet" site shows it
started 3/24/18 when I didn't receive the car until 4/13/18. I want my missing 3 weeks of warranty back!

The date of sale reported by the dealer to the manufacturer is the in service date. Call the dealer to correct the discrepancy. Did they ship it to you?
It was a courtesy delivery, purchased from Chriswell Chevrolet and delivered to my local dealer on 4/13/18.
I believe the car was built on 3/22/18. Who can fix it, the selling dealer or courtesy dealer?

This just made me call my finance guy, I just bought a brand new 2018 z51 c7 yesterday it had been on their lot for nearly a year.
He told me my in service date won't be until tomorrow.... see if you can talk to a finance person as sales people won't know jack.
I thought the "in service date" is the day it went thru the service department for its pre deliver system checks , Who did the pre delivery system checks ?

I'd agree. How can a vehicle be put in service before it is through PDI and delivered?

No. The in-service date is the date of delivery to the original purchaser. If it is a demo or company car it would be the date when it goes into usage. Cars come off the truck and generally have the PDI done and then could sit for a year before being sold.
My bet is that if there was an issue, 3 weeks past this "service date" 3/36, GM/Chevrolet/Dealer would probably cover you. You have documentation, they do too.

I wouldnt trust GM.Chevy to cover past the expiration date they may offer a discount or the dealer may help. But I wouldnt want to bank on their goodwill. The inservice date is usually the day the car is sold and titled Dealers will the use the car and put some miles on it but will still be considered new and sold as such. Some states have mileage limits dealers can put on a new car need to check your state

Meh, I dunno. If it was just a routine 3/36 - like the center console dent - maybe not. If it was an emergency type of warranty call, I'll bet it's goodwilled. The 3/36 Warranty starts the day it's bought. Example: you buy a 2017 C7/Z06 brand new from the lot. The warranty starts that day, not the service date.

I can assure you good-will adjustments happen daily at Chevrolet dealerships. Often with far less reason. But, why even the discussion? The buyers order and sales contract rules and the dealer can facilitate the change with out a problem. Anything less is just looking for something to bicker about.

Your in service date likely matches the date the selling dealer had all the sales docs back when you signed for the car. The 3 weeks in transit is not GM's fault and I have not seen them go back and change an in service date for that reason.
