Except you pay taxes on your interest income and you can’t deduct interest expense.

No sense in deducting interest. No itemizing needed anymore, at least for me.

I saw one with a rate closer to 3% today! I think it was 2.75% or something. May be a coincidence, but my bank called me up the same week I moved 95% of my money out to talk about my financial goals and how they can help

I also just looked up car interest rates. Holy crap. They went from 1.99 (and 0.9% for 36) to near 5% now!

I guess I'm sitting pretty with 3.75% tax delectable 30 year mortgage and 1.99% car
nowhere in that link is there an interest rate for savings even close to 2% without a $1M balance. Where is that rate?

Yes, my next question was going to be where did you get that rate on a car loan.

2.35% on a true savings account is great in today's environment.

Yeah, that's kind of the downside. I break about just shy of even, which is damn fine by me. I guess I'm paying something like 50 cents a month to have $70k available, after taxes.

Yeah it reads 2.35% with a $1 balance. I saw an add for nearly 3% on facebook today.

That would imply a tax rate of around 15% which I’m guessing you might be a little higher than that.

Anyway, keeping cash in bank and borrowing at ~2% is not a bad deal at all in almost any situation.

70% of 2.35 is 1.64 vs 1.99. 0.35 interest is fine by me

Intrx has 2.91 according to an ad I just saw. That’s almost exactly 1.99% after taxes.

I took the financing to get more discount. I made the (4) payments the asked for and paid off the loan.

The best deal I got was on the 2014 1LT Z51 I ordered when there were no incentives. It was over $7k cheaper on the msrp alone compared to now before my dealer discount.

Default 1200 mile drive, what a blast!

My wife and I flew to Boston on Wednesday and took delivery of my 2019 Sebring Orange Grand Sport from MacMulkin Chevy. What a great experience. The price on the website is what I paid. The discount was over $12K off of list. The team is fantastic, Wally picked us up at the airport, Todd in Finance, and Mark, Jesse, and Liam in Sales were all fantastic. We drove back to Florida and can't be happier. Here are two pics, one of her at the dealership and one of the car at South of the Border in South Carolina. I highly recommend the MacMulkin team.
