You must be talking about the Paint Protection Film. It was either an option you forgot you chose -or- bought used and previous owner had it installed. People pay thousands, I'd clean it and leave it.

My ‘14 has the paint protection film in front of the rear wheels - it is not on the options list for the car so I believe it is applied at the factory as standard equipment.

I think it has been there since the introduction of the C7. For what its worth, it offers some protection but can not compare to a true paint protection film.

GM put them on the C7 starting in 2014 because of the body design. They help, but after awhile they will become pitted from stones that find their way to that area. But, they do the job. To stop the carnage one needs a set of side skirts.
^^^ What Rebell Yell says. They will also eventually turn a little bit yellow on the Arctic White. I have 90,000 miles on my Stingray and you have to bend over and look at them to the the stone chip scars on them. But I have a dark colored car. Nothing went through to the paint.
My 15 Z06 that was built in June 2015 had the PPF around the brake duct area. The shop that installed the Expel removed it so the Expel wouldn't have a problem.

^^That part is standard. Any other wrap would have been applied by a vendor, not at the factory, and would provide additional protection against rock chips, door dings, etc.
