Just a reality check for M7 defenders/lobbiest against the automatic transmission....
.
The last Ferrari to be produced with a manual transmission was the 599 model. NO CURRENT FERRARI MODELS ARE MADE WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.

LMAO. The DCT in Ferrari’s is nothing like the auto in a Corvette. The Corvette has a torque converter. The DCT is an automated manual. I had one in my M3. Not as fun as the M7 in my Z. However much better than the auto GM uses.

You seem to labor under the profound delusion that this is a good thing.

[QUOTE=Skid Row Joe;1598837335]Perfect.
..A couple three Gen Xers, at my health club all drive auto C7s. I asked one of them; "What were you thinking not buying an M7?!" I get feeble blank looks from em. L0l!!
I participate in the meets of 7 or 8 local Facebook car groups. Most of the participants are age 18 to 32. Several have seen that both of my Corvettes have automatics transmissions and commented,"Cool, an automatic, they are faster 0-60 and in the quarter mile." True or not, that is the perception among the younger crowd. I believe the days are numbered for buying any new car with a manual transmission, especially if the Corvette C8 has no optional manual.

[QUOTE=Skid Row Joe;1598843158]All the time.
.. Defending why they didn't buy a manual is hilarious to hear. I think some never learned how to drive one is why, to be honest with you.
It is not necessary for anybody, whether they drive a manual or automatic, to justify their transmission choice. I have owned and driven several manual and several automatic sports cars. I make zero apologies for the auto transmissions in my current supercharged C5 and my current iron block 408 stroker C5. I buy what I like and like what I buy.

He was merely stating a fact about the disappearance of Ferraris with manual transmissions. He didn't express an sentiment pro or con. Even if he or anybody else had said, for example, "Good riddance to manuals.", that wouldn't be a delusional statement. It would be an opinion, nothing more, nothing less. I can sit here and bemoan the impending death of the manual transmission in new cars, but I must face the reality that the manual transmission, in the eyes of the auto industry, has become an anachronism, replaced by DCT and others.

SOB! I was planning on cross shopping a new Honda Civic manual with a new Ferrari 488 for my daughter just turning 16...now what the hell I’m I going to tell her? Maybe she’ll settle for a C7?

The last Ferrari with a manual option was the California, last offered in 2014. The new California T is DCT only.
(The 599 had an electrohydraulic manual transmission; i.e., the computer controls the clutch. You just push a lever to sequentially change gears. The last 599 was made in 2012.)
I find knowledgeable 20 somethings to be fully aware an automatic is faster and more efficient, and they are are amused by the paddles. The find a manual to be anachronistic akin to a corded home phone.
Keep in mind the average aged buyer of a C7 at the tome of its introduction on 2014 was 61. The years earlier the average Corvette buyer was 54. Manuals appeal to this age group. (Yes there are, of course, younger drivers who love manuals as well.)
I enjoy both a good manual and a modern auto. The ZF Friedrichshafen 8 speed auto in my BMW is spectacular.

My millennial status might be in play here but I don't get the point of a manual. My corvette is an automatic and I've never got comments one way or the other.
Now a days autos are faster.
When I'm driving (DC area) I would be exhausted from driving. I've driven a car with a manual, no power brakes, and no power steering. It's stressful.
It feels fun for a few hours on the weekend but then just gets boring and tedious for driving all the time.
As for power windows who needs them. My 85 S-10 is just fine with out them.

I do however prefer automatics in my everyday appliance vehicles, but always a stick in my toys.

The ZF 8-speed is an amazingly great auto transmission, and every bit as good as any DCT/PDK I've ever driven. I had one in my Jaguar F-Type, but I got bored with it, and traded for a C7 M7. It felt too easy, and I didn't feel nearly as engaged in the driving experience.
