I was out and about when I drove to Oatman AZ. I was exiting the car and pressed on the Infotaiment door where I keep my wallet. No go! Visions of getting the dash dismantled ran through my head (such as it is). I decided to just leave the car for a few minutes to make sure everything shut down and go back and try again. Whew! It opened up. Not going to put anything important in there again. Probably just a computer glitch as nothing was jamming the door. Lesson learned.
After reading a few threads on here about people getting their stuff stuck back there, I have decided never to use that area to store anything important. In fact I haven't even opened it up more than once. Glad yours started working again! I think it was member THEPLATINUMOG who had his wallet in there and the battery died and so that compartment wouldn't open and the dealer couldn't get it figured out for quite a few days.
There is a DIY thread somewhere about getting a malfunctioning screen open. It doesn't require a whole dash dismantle, just the trim pieces around the screen. However, I probably wouldn't keep my wallet there.
When I first purchased my 14 C7, I had a "scare" once, when the screen didn't open, but I quickly discovered it won't open on an M7 when it's parked in reverse because when the rear camera is switched on it's locked up. It's always switched on in reverse, whether the car is running or not.
Hopefully just a temporary glitch. But if you use the compartment often, the wires that bend every time the screen goes up and down might be frayed. Theres a guy on this board that did a write-up on how to fix with off the shelf connector.

same here. I have used it maybe 3 or 4 times - just store misc stuff, nothing I care about, not even sunglasses. Between doors getting stuck and wires being damaged its not worth the risk. Nice idea GM, but no thanks

Do you mean the storage space behind the screen where there is a button where the screen slides up and down ? Believe me I have already decided not to put my wallet there incase the screen does not open, I dont have vette yet but will use it for non important things like cell charger, sunglasses etc, it's a very useful storage place
