I have the poster of the same picture in the OP hanging in my office. Bought it before I was a C7 owner.
From this tidbit....
In fact, the fastest Corvette in history was built way back in 1968. The vehicle was recorded doing 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds. No Corvette before or since has matched the speed and pickup power of the 1968 LT-2 Corvette.
I'm going to need to hear more about this. Did someone drive it off the top of a parking garage?
In for details and a source on the mystery 1968 Corvette that is faster than the C7 ZR1. I am betting this is not correct, and I am pretty sure it isn't the first time that one of these curated posts had misinformation.
I wouldn't call that the fastest Corvette but maybe the quickest. I think the fastest should be the 1988 Callaway Sledgehammer. Has another Corvette gone 254.76 MPH.
Cool story and I really like that car but it isn't a production car... The OP's post is misleading at best, in my opinion. Plenty of faster modified Corvette's out there of all generations, I am sure.

I’m not seeing where they said production corvette...it was considered.
Faster yes, but they’re not factory.

They didn't, but that is the implication of that statement.
Who has the database of the fastest Corvettes ever modified in history? It doesn't exist definitely. I would be willing to bet there are a number of people on this forum that own modified Corvettes quicker than the one in the OP. Take a look at this link which is one source that cites several that are sub 2 seconds.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
