If you are going to install Expel, you may want to have it applied before the trip to protect the paint from rock chips on your initial drive.

Don’t let your RPMs to stick in one spot. If the car is brand spanking new. I always jam it to get it through the gears one time off the bat. The lower pressure helps make sure the rings set. I’m been building my own motors for many years and I always do that with a new motor. It only last for 5 tp 6 seconds gunning it out of the hole like that and after that I baby the motor for the first 800 miles then start taking the R’s up a little bit here and there until I get about 1,500 miles and an LOF done. Then it’s ready to roll. First 800 as you described, you’re a sharp guy, your judgement and common sense will get the job done.
Just drive home the way you would if you were driving any other car. I'm sure the "break in" is geared more towards legal issues for GM than for the car itself. This way if something breaks/car crashes they can blame the customer for not following printed directions.
Now that's a good time.
Picked up our 427 in Nashua also and drove home to Chicago.
Got caught in a lake effect blizzard in Indiana.
Good stuff.
Similar trip but in summer and man was it hot. Not a drop of rain but drove all night and when I finally got near MKE, the traffic was the worst. I41 was one lane all the way from Illinois border to downtown MKE. Almost 100 degrees out. I was so glad to get home. Yeah fun stuff.
I picked my GS up at the Museum and drove it back to Louisiana.( 752 miles.) Changed the oil at the dealer when I got home. They told me at the Museum it would be fine to drive over the 500 miles before I got an oil change. I varied the speeds,no hard starts and stops,no cruise control and I used Tour mode. My wife and I had a blast driving it home. Enjoy the trip.
Well I drove my 2014 3200 miles because I had to go to the southern route fro KC to Seattle area !!! You have follow the 500 and 1500 mike break in instructions to the letter as you would any new car no matter what car you bought this Corvette is the 4th new car I have owned and break in is very important !!!! I purposely picked up my car and drove it home so that the break in periods would done and over so 1500 miles was when I reached Palm Springs !!! Wayne
Congratulations, OP, on the new car. Good luck with the drive back home. When spring arrives I hope you can make it to some of the Cars and Coffees and other events in the Cincy area. BTW where are you taking it for service?
You guys are great...I like the consideration and friendly advice. One responder said the break-in is as much for the differential as the engine, so getting off the interstate and taking twisty roads is better. Makes sense.
