I always heard about how everybody wants to race you when you drive a Vette but didn't think it was this bad! And in my case it's always the cars that don't have a chance.
I was off Thursday and drove mine just about everywhere. I got a thumbs-up from a guy in a Porsche and later a compliment from some guys in a really nice BMW M something or other. But later that night on the way home I pull up to the light next to a Dodge neon with a fart can and he starts revving me up. I thought his motor was going to explode every time he would rev it and backfire.

Agree. Have come across a few exotics on the road and there was no game playing.

Same here, the ones who really try to get my attention are the beat-up neons or civics.
I'm pretty sure they know they don't stand a chance, all they really want is to see a Corvette flex it's muscles.
Making huge HP is so easy either stock or with a tune that there are a LOT of wolves in sheep's clothing on the road and it's a game of Russian Roulette. A "risk/reward" analysis is in order... Consider giving the moron a royal parade wave and continue on your way...
It is better to not race and thought to be fast than to race and get your *** handed to you.
A while back I was passing a Chevy dealer and a new Corvette was driven off of the lot. At a red light I congratulated the young man on his purchase and told him that he would be challenged occasionally by other drivers. Suggested he reply, "No Thanks" and offer a smile.
I instruct at an SVT/Cobra Club event at VIR once per year. I have that situation come up leaving several turns. Third gear from 47 to 50 mph handles them very well especially with a 4000 ft long back straight ahead of you. Just push the pedal to the floor, shift from third to fourth at 120 and from 4th to 5th at about 145 hit the brakes for the next turn at about 155. Not a lot of Mustangs can handle that.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
