Bought my Z06 last November and received a letter in the mail with details about the Ron Fellows Corvette driving school. Watched some YouTube vids of it and quickly knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I'll be there 4/12 & 4/13. Very excited! 😀

7spd - best investment you can do!!! I just completed the course (writing this while sitting in Vegas airport to return home) and it was an amazing eye opening experience. The school and instructors are top notch!!!

Excellent! You can best prepare by exercising your s**t eating grin muscles...
I joined the "SM is on the short list of best automotive experiences I have had" club last June, and offer the following suggestions
1) Get the condo for the night before class if you can, or a hotel room if SM is full. Not having to rush to get there and getting snagged in Las Vegas commute traffic or a wreck on the 40 mile trip from McCarran is worth it. If you like good food and wine, Symphony's restaurant and the collocated Pahrump Valley Winery are excellent. Great food and wine at pleasing prices. Check 'em out on Yelp
2) Take or buy a SD card and become familiar with using the PDR - The SD Card should be a Class 10, and 32 GB will ensure you capture all the action. Record ALL the nanny demonstration exercises as well as track time.

I'm going on May 13/14 - can't wait based on all the feedback. What type shoes do most people wear? Not inclined to buy "driving shoes" as I don't track my car and won't have a future use for them. Sneakers/running shoes work?

Also, if you haven't done so, search YouTube for Spring Mountain Corvette Owners School to familiarize yourself with the process.

Safety Car
Just have them take motion sickness pills beforehand. Most people tend to get ill during high performance driving in the second seat. This occurs even if they normally do not get car or sea sick.

I'll be there the same days. I have a Stingray. Don't know if we're in the same group as Z06s.

You should really enjoy the school. I wish I had the opportunity to go with the GM subsidy, but I bought my C7 used. Perhaps some day I'll either pony up the full cost or I'll just have to buy a new Corvette.

Just another thought regarding the condo on the night before and the SD card, they run a Summer special that includes 2 nights in a condo and the SD card if you attend in the summer months, I believe it runs June thru August. I've been for the Corvette Owner School and the 3 day Level 1 class, both times in July, and the horror stories you hear about the heat are pretty much unfounded. It does get into triple digits, but it's dry heat, not humid and you run sessions of about 40 minutes with A/C on and windows up, followed by 40 minute sessions in the A/C classroom. Lots of water available, and they give you a water bottle that fits perfectly in the cup holder for the driving sessions. Symphony restaurant at the Winery is very good, we had dinner there every night, nice menu, great food and reasonable prices, but make a reservation as they do get busy. If you're into wine they do have Tastings daily. Another tip, I see you have a manual Z like I do, I'd strongly suggest booking early as they do have limited numbers of manual ZO6's at times. They do try to put you in what you own, but I had a guy in my Owner School class that booked a couple weeks before the class and wanted a manual, but they didn't have one available but they gave him the choice of a manual Grand Sport or automatic ZO6. Good luck and enjoy!!

Wifey went and rode the lead car and liked it. I went with my son who went as a result of buying a Grand Sport and rode in the lead car and learned a lot more.

The heat was no problem as the cars are comfortable. It was over 100 during our second trip out
