Planning to visit the Corvette Museum soon, and was thinking about taking the Corvette driving experience which consists of 3-20 minute class room sessions followed by 20 minutes of track time in their corvette , includes lunch and VIP tour, cost $ 599. I have been to Spring Mountain so I do not anticipate this to compare to that experience. Anyone take the driving experience, worth it ?
I haven't done the Museum track experience but have been on that track several times and just completed my second trip to Spring Mountain. I believe it would be money well spent and wouldn't hesitate to sign up if the school is offered at a time I'm close by.
I did the “experience” last summer. This was my only time on a track so I thought it was awesome. Instructors are great. They will do their best to adapt the sessions (speeds) to that groups abilities.
They also let my wife wife come along and sit in the classroom time as well as have lunch and go over for the tour at the museum included in the cost. I thought it was a pretty cool way to go as I hadn’t been to the museum before either.
Two suggestions: if ya have your own helmet, take it.
And if you want a manual car, there’s only 2 of the 5 that were M7 so when you call to set it up you’ll have to see if one is available in that session.
I am going to the NCM Bash in April and signed up for the Driving Experience. I chose a manual transmission since my car is an automatic. I have driven on Charlotte Motor Speedway (Porsche driving clinic in 1985, It was a three day event and we got to drive all of the Porsche models and what they considered their competition. ABS braking had just come out. The pit road was set up as a drag strip. And we got to drive around the big track as well as the infield road course. I got to go for free since I was the sales manager at a Porsche dealership at the time. I got to drive my new Porsche 944 at 148 MPH. Also went to the Richard Petty School at Richmond International about 10 years ago - drove a 650 HP NASCAR car - topped out at 132 MPH on the straight, which is about 3 seconds long. You spend all of your time making turns at 90 - 100 MPH. It was a full day event for around $ 700 and it was a blast! Can't wait to see how a Corvette drives on a longer road course. And since I am working 6 to 7 days a week during tax season, it will be a good way to burn off some stress and have a good time doing it! I also signed up to drive my own 2018 Convertible on the track on Friday. Hope to see you there! SkyKing
