Wow hit the nail on the head. Exactly what my 20 something nephews said when they saw my new Stingray. Been embarrassed driving the pos ever since, especially when in sight of anyone 59 or younger. Thank goodness very soon this kind of mistake won't be made as we all will be equal in electric autonomous auto2!--- Just jesting. Nephews encouraged me to order the car and are Corvette fans. Just never knew there is a stigma associated with the Corvette.I find it a pleasure to own and drive.

More likely wholly disinterested in the car, but fully aware of the stereotype.

Hum, I've never run across younger crowd (son-in-laws, their friends etc) who didn't think C7s were cool as hell!

If we have both FE and ME at the same time I suspect that they will be Corvette Stingray and Corvette Manta Ray.

IF GM is to stay completive with Europe and China they must do similar things and not worry about an FE Vette! IMO the risk with the 585,000 Silverados sold in 2018 by putting a 2.7 Liter, double overhead cam, turbo L4 ( 310 hp) in for 2019 is much bigger than losing the folks who insist on an FE Vette!
I'd hope that obsession for a FE pushrod V8 Vette goes away for most as did the none round taillights in the C7!

Kids in parking lots all point and ask their dads, "Hey, can't we have one of these?"
I previously have mentioned that both my sons (28 & 32) much enjoyed driving my C7 even though they currently have other priorities for their money and drive economy cars. Computer engineer son took the C7 on a road trip and reports he got lots of positive comments at rest areas--and also told me that he thought that the smartphone integration was really good, something important to the younger generation!

My 90 year old uncle drives his GMC Serra a couple of times a week (plus his farm tractor, two farm trucks and his bulldozer). His 83 year old wife drives her Ford expedition once or twice a week.

I think that the Silverado/GMC V8 is the biggest argument for continuation of a Corvette V8. These engines are not identical but they are very similar, and maintaining the Corvette/Camaro V8 engines is a lot easier to justify as a supplement to the Silverado engines. BTW, I don't think that the fuel economy "gains" of a smaller, turbo engine really hold up in actual use (as opposed to in lab testing). A V8 with cylinder deactivation and stop/start is going to be very close in actual use.

I kept my good ol' C5 when I got my new C7... but, that's IT! I'm done with new sports cars. Waaaaay too much factory installed gobble-de-gook on the C7 I don't care anything about (half of which God and GM don't seem to be able to consistently keep working or repaired) I cannot even begin to imagine how much worse in this regard the C8--especially the first few years--will be.

IMO, there will be two engines that will sell the most for the Silverado in time, the 2.7 Liter turbo L4 and the 3 Liter Duramax diesel.
Oh there may be a V8 offered at a very high price to control how many are sold (NOT because of cost) for those obsessed with a large pushrod V8! That is easily controlled by GM to meet their needed corporate mpg goals. With 585,000 Silverado volume in 2018 versus less than 30,000 C7s, trucks are more important.
GM spent significant engineering, manufacturing development, and facilities money to build the 2.7 Liter turbo L4 because they knew it was needed for the very profitable future Truck market.

Wi believe the camaro will evolve into a two plus two that mimics the ferrari portofinio as the corvette goes rear mid engine.

I'd be more worried about autonomous vehicles. Once they get the tech down, insurance companies are going to say that driving yourself is reckless, and thus the end of driving as we know it.
