I never encountered my CAGS
For some reason I have never been forced to shift 1st to 4th in 2000 miles I have had my C7. The original owner swears he never installed a CAGS eliminator, but why would I never encounter this? I drive like a sane person especially around my neighborhood. Could the solenoid be defective (a good thing!)?

You’re shifting the way you should. You need to shift at very low RPM’s out of first for it to come in to play. Something like 1200.
It never gets in my way either.

I also recall that a bit more deliberate use of the throttle avoids the activation of CAGS. It does not take a lot, just a bit more then a gentle application of throttle.

Bought a CAGS eliminator when I first bought my '14 Z51 and never installed it. In over 52K miles on that car, I think CAGS kicked in a handful of times.
When I got my '19 GS, I was going to install it as a matter course as I'd have it on a lift when I changed out brake pads. But I didn't and it sits on my desk to this day. Anyone wanna buy it?
(2000 miles in the new one and have seen CAGS once)

Larry - there are a number of factors that go into when the CAGS is tripped. Apparently, you are driving it in such a manner that the 1-4 shift does not happen. Good for you.

Only time mine ever kicks in is when I want it to. Pretty easy to learn it out.

You can get it to engage if you just want to test it. Make sure it's warmed up and just slowly apply throttle until the indicator light turns on. Because you drive it correctly it never happens. You roll right through it just by your driving manner. I've gotten it to come on when I was distracted and not driving in my normal way. It's a very rare occurance and I would never bother installing it on the c7.

You guys aren't shifting in a responsible eco friendly, gas sipping manner!

Driving properly? That's funny. In my 05 it comes on right when I want to shift. Sucks when turning from a stop. I guess I should properly redline in every gear. To the OP if your light I see on but you can shift to second then yes, something is goofy.
