SD cards

As part of their "summer special", SM provided PNY Elite Performance Class 10 16GB cards, but I suspect any Class 10 card would work...
SD cards may best be formatted with SD formatting software as opposed to native formatting on your computer.. I started using SD Card Formatter last year and it works well.

I use a 32gb scan disc, plug it in good for almost 800 minutes

As said previously, any Class 10 SD card (or micro-SD in an adaptor) that is formatted FAT-32. Many larger SD cards are formatted differently so you'll need to reformat. Mac owners can use Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

I use a 256GB SD card. No worries about running out of storage space. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/PNY-Elite-Per...-1-spons&psc=1
Any 32gb (or less) SD card will be formatted FAT32 by the manufacturer; cards bigger than 32gb (64, 128, 200, 256 & 400 gb) are not and will not work with the manufacturer formatting in the C7.
I have been using the Sandisk 32gb Ultra, which is $8.25 on Amazon. I have 3 identical SD cards for the C7 PDR, and usually just keep 2 of them in the car.

If you go that route, you will need to format it as a FAT32 card for it to work in the C7.

So if I buy the Sandisk 32gb Ultra, will I still need to format it on my Mac, or - since it is not any bigger than 32gb - is it ready to pop into my Z06 without formatting?

Doesn't have to be FAT32. I'm using exFAT without a problem.

As others noted, any good Class 10 will work fine in the PDR.
A couple of cautions:
1. Be careful with Amazon because I received some counterfeit Sandisk cards from them when I ordered for my Z06 back in 2016. The obviously fake labels weren't even properly attached to the cards. At least returns were easy and I bought real Sandisk cards from B&H where I have bought my photo gear for years.
2. Be cautious using micro cards in an adapter because that combination is notorious for causing problems in DSLRs with lost and corrupted files. In theory it works fine but the adapters are often poorly made and at the least it adds an addition electro-mechanical connection between the PDR and the storage device.
I really prefer SD cards with their reasonable cost for high performance and robust connector but my two current Canon DSLR bodies require CF cards with one requiring a Cfast card for maximum performance and the pin type interface for those cards isn't nearly as robust as the SD connector so for the cameras I now transfer files using ethernet rather than a card reader to avoid wear and tear on the connectors.

Yes, the standard SD card will not be labeled either micro or mini, and will not come with an adapter.
Here is an example, .

On my 2019 this was a problem with my 64GB. Ultimately I reformatted on an older laptop on Win8 which still had Fat32 rather than exFat. It works fine niw and gives just over 1700 minutes, way more than enough. Before Ron Fellows I bought a 32GB, checked the format and tested in my car to ensure I coukd capture sessions withou problem. A 32Gb was just $8 at WalMart. I plan on running the camera on long trips as a dash cam just in case of a mishap on the road.
