C7 camera warning sounds
My 2017 C7 has a total of 4 cameras. When I either pull up or back up to an obstacle, the cameras show a set of green, yellow, red lines depending how close I am getting. My question is there an audible sign when the car gets too close to an obstacle? I have 2 Fords with cameras that have an audible warnings. Does my Vette have the same thing? If so, how do I turn it on?

There is no audible alert to my knowledge. The camera also doesn't seem to provide quite a wide enough view if turning while backing up. I'm always worried one of the rear corners is going to hit something that doesn't appear in the camera until it's too late.

No audible warning, a serious shortcoming. I'm sure someone will chime in (no pun intended) and say that a car like ours does not need that (safety) feature. Well, I'm in the majority that drives my car on the road.

There is no warning as the car does not have proximity sensors. It similarly does not have blind spot monitoring, lane assist, etc.

I personally am happy not to have a half dozen little round protrusions coming out of my bumpers for this feature.

As with everything, it is a trade-off. Adding all of these driver assistance gadgets increases the cost of the car.
Additionally, many would see crutches for the most basic driving tasks as anathema to a driver's car. Does a competent driver really need a warning to check the blind spot before changing lanes? Or a nanny reminding the driver not to drift out of his lane?

I wouldn't complain if they added some of the safety features to the Vette. Tadge has already explained why some have not been added to the C7 (room for the sensors in an already cramped area for example). Someday the items may be mandated for all cars, but for now we'll just have to live with what we have.

Burning Brakes
Kind of off topic, but I would sure like to have adaptive cruise control...

I have not expressed an opinion one way or the other, merely observed "many would see crutches for the most basic driving tasks as anathema to a driver's car." You may not be in this group - which is perfectly fine.

And unless it is not using police band radar, I don't want it at all. Fortunately, I do believe all new cars will no longer use police band after 2022, hopefully they will phase it out sooner for everyone's sake.
