Default Intrusion Sensor

Manual says the Intrusion Sensor is disabled with the roof off. Makes no sense to me, it seems that if the roof is off, car is locked, the Intrusion Sensor would be armed? I was under the impression that when the roof was off, car locked, if you stuck your arm in the car the alarm would activate - not so?

Yes, it is disabled with the roof off. There is a workaround with a wall anchor in the left roof pin hole, that fools the sensor into thinking the roof is on.

I guess their thinking is that they don't want a stray leaf blowing into the car and setting it off, but if you ask me, I think that is exactly what is needed to keep greedy little hands out.

The Vert does not have a workaround to date, and unless someone smarter than we who have had the car for years can come up with something, I guess, we just never leave anything visible and tempting.

Wall anchor? What exactly do you use and how? My roof is off a lot here in AZ would love to have this feature enabled for as you said - greedy little hands out.

Pretty much just stick a plastic wall anchor in the left roof pin-hole on the top of windshield.

It says make sure nothing is blocking the sensors. Does anyone know where the sensors are exactly for the coupe?

Thanks for the suggestion for using a wall anchor to enable the alarm. I too would like to know where the sensors are located.

The sensor is on the dash. it is that bubble thing. Apparently it is multi-function, because it also is a light sensor (for headlights and mirrors).

eta: misinformation corrected a few posts down.

It is operational when the widows are down. Plenty of us owners have set off the alarm reaching in through an open window (with the top on/up).

No, the interior motion sensor is located in the windshield header, by the rear view mirror. There are two little grills for the ultrasonic motion sensors.

Owc6 - What size wall anchor did you use? Tried a few, about 1/4" diameter and it did not work. Can you post a picture of what you used and the diameter please? I do see the sensor pin in the left hole.

I used an old locating pin that I took off when I changed out the pins to the new design. I just ground off the threaded part and painted it black. I leave it in the console and put it in if I park with the top off.

This starts at the "sensor" picture. Scroll down a few posts and you'll see the wall anchor used.

New design pin? is this to fix a squeaky roof panel?
