If gm knows they have a problem with shuddering in the a8 trans. Why do we have to pay for the the upgraded oil which they just came out with. They should pick up the expense since they have a problem. We already paid alot of money for our vehicles.

Right?! I made them pay, and don't even have the problem yet. I have an A8 in my new GMC Canyon Denali and before I would fill out the GM new car survey I told them that I wanted the triple flush with the new blue label Mobil1 done before I get the shudder problem. First they offered to split it with me and I stood my ground that I just paid big money for the truck and they gave in. 20 qts. and 2 hrs labor at 640 miles. Did their survey all 10's. Hope it keeps shuddering from happening. Glad my '16 Stingray is manual...

I wish GM would come clean and explain why some have this problem and some don't. Maybe it would put our minds at rest for those who haven't had the shudder occur and also those who have and had it fixed with the new fluid. It doesn't make sense that the fluid is the real cause of the problem or it would effect all the transmissions. From what I have figured out, the shudder problem happens in under 10% of the people who have the 8 speed.

I think you did the smart thing as they do want all 10's on the survey.. Given what we know the flush and new fluid is the only prudent move.
I agree that it is something in the Tranny or TQ but again why only 10% or less. It could be like Porsches in the past that had an IMS issue but they without question replaced the engines if any issues were present and then changed the design. I still do not understand why they would not give you the option of turning it off like the M7.
This has to be expensive for GM either doing the workaround with fluid flushes or folks just saying "I won't buy GM due to the bad press on the A8"..
I realize that only a small amount are effected but for me that would kill the New Vette Buzzz....

The transmission on my 2016 Colorado was so bad, I traded it before the vehicle was in service two years. And I didn’t purchase another GM automatic either.
