C7 admirers
So, I don't expect many know me (not very active) on the forum but I DID post a small story about finally buying a Corvette (after dreaming of one for over 40 years).
So, I think we all get the "thumbs up" from (usually) guys who see us driving. Feels kinda nice.
And the C7 has been out for years so, it shouldn't still be getting all the "wow" looks.
So, I'm in Aldi and a guy comes up to me asking me if that's my Corvette outside (must have noticed the hat my girl gave me for a gift). I laughed and asked if there was more than one and when he said, no, I said "It's mine, then, unless someone stole it and another 'Vette driver showed up." He laughed. Then he said, "Nice car.", and proceeded to talk about his Crossfire. I was nice (considering I don't even place the Crossfire in the same class with the sleek Corvette). After a while, I had to extract myself from the conversation as politely as I could--not wanting to be considered "an uppity Corvette owner". But a Crossfire? Really...
Strange...
So, a few weeks later, I'm at the ATM and my Corvette is parked where I can see it and I watch this 30-something guy walking all around it. Get my money, walk back to the car, he says, "Nice Corvette!". Now, once again, I "smile" to myself but don't want to be considered an egotistical owner and I mumble something about it just being the "little one". Just a Stingray. (it's not like I could brag about having a Z06 or Grand Sport (much less a C7R). He said, "It doesn't matter. It's a Corvette!". I smile nicely and tried to downplay the praise and said, "Well, you're seeing it on a good day. When it's overcast, the red (LBR) looks muted and sort of dull." He said, "It doesn't matter. It's a Corvette!". I smiled. I figured if I said anything else, he would just repeat. He saw the Viet Nam Veteran tag and thanked me for my service and as he walked off, he said, "I'm going to own one some day."
It's different owning a Corvette...America's sports car. Didn't receive that kind of interest with my 370Z.
Anyway... FWIW

Stop to consider that the Crossfire owner may be just as proud to own it as you are your Corvette. Not everyone has a desire to own a Vette.
Regardless of the the fact that the C7 is in its 6th model year, it still is a beautiful car that is bound to attract attention. Nothing wrong with that.

Drove mine to work today with the race seat and track wheels. A guy at WAWA stopped me to ask all about it. Even in it's 6th model year they still attract attention. When I pick up my daughter from daycare the kids think it's a Ferrari.

My 350Z drew compliments. I think because A) it was that awesome Sunset LeMans cooper / orange color and B) wasn't all riced out. But yeah the C7 still gets way more thumbs up. I have people stop and take pictures, for example during Halloween several kids that came to our house asked if they could stand next to it for a photo op. Anytime my wife takes the C7 she gets all kinds of questions - the combination of a manual, V8 sports car plus female driver is rare... people kind of freak out. The Laguna Blue is also a factor I think, several people at work comment on the color alone.
I always thought the Crossfire was attractive design - classic proportions with the long hood, big rear fender arches, etc. Shame the SRT-6 version was an automatic. The car was basically a Benz SLK so it had good bones. They never sold well so they are a rare sight today given they went out of production in '08.

They are great looking cars and get a lot of attention. It is rare that I take mine out and don't get a thumbs up, pop up conversation, or someone running beside me racing their engines. All my friends think I'm rich This morning I was commuting to work in my Fusion and saw a yellow version of my GS (Black wheels, stage 2 aero, M7, fender hask marks) and I'll be honest, my heart started racing and I thought "Damn that's an awesome looking car. That's what mine looks like?"

My first car was a '78 civic. I think I was more proud of that car in the day, than I am of the vette.

Get used to it. I was one of the first in my area to own the 2014, base and I had a small squad of cars maneuvering around me on the interstate everyday, taking picks .. giving thumbs up ect... on my 3rd C7... never gets old.. we are blessed to own these cars and all they can do ... and stand for !!

And it wasn't till I received the first copy of the NCM magazine that I realized the Corvette is now the only (true) sports car made by a US company. (unless I'm having a brain fart)

Good feel, isn't it. Thank you for serving in that war. And congrats on your vette.
I had a black 370Z and gotta say, I got a lot of looks and compliments on it. My wife would drive it and get hit on by guys, allot.
But the vette gets smiles, too. '13 GS

Always get a thumbs up when in my Vette and if I am parked somewhere. If the person also tells me about his ride Corvette or not I always find something positive to say in return. Afterall a car enthusiast is just that and I can always relate to their pride as well.

I'm still trying to get used to the attention myself. I got rid of my lifted SEMA show truck for that same reason. I had no idea it would be worse in the Vette. I will admit though I have met some pretty cool people just by having them come up and start a conversation about the car. Met a super cool war vet at the RaceWay gas station not too long ago.

I'm not sure there's a better looking car <$150k on the road today, and I have my doubts that the C8 will improve upon the C7 aesthetically. These things just plain stand out from the crowd. You can't miss them.
