Default Paint code 8555 for black?

I've got a ding on the front clip that I want to repair. Found the tag with the paint code under the mat in the rear. It's 8555 on the tag. Did a quick search for paint and found references to this and to WA8555. Which do I need to use to get the correct color? If anyone has picked up black touch up paint and can let me know what code they used I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Also, if you've ordered touch up paint, who did you order from and how did it turn out?

Thanks,
Mike

WA8555 is the correct paint code. I have used both drcolorchip.com and paintscratch.com on other vehicles and have been impressed with both for color match. they both have videos for helping you determine the best way to go about your repair and what you will need.

I have made most of my repairs with my airbrush, and then buffed the area afterwards. Makes it nearly impossible to see. Good luck with your repair.

8555 is GM’s standard black. It’s in every model they make. However their are many variants of it because it’s been in production so long. If you’re super concerned about an absolute variant match find a local automotive paint distributor in your area and have them either check it against the chip decks or scan it with a camera and make you the correct variant.
